Re: Vitamin D Level

Ah, Gabes. You certainly have had a time of it. I hope things are on the upswing for you soon! Thank goodness you haven't had a flare with everything else going on.

Thanks, Tex. I haven't met with her since my initial appointment after the DEXA. Her office called me to tell me about cutting back on ...

Re: Vitamin D Level

Hi, Gabes. No, I didn't stop taking it prior to testing. The instructions didn't say to do so and the staff person at the lab didn't mention it, either. I will cut back to 2000 iu, thank you.
I was sorry to read on a previous thread that you had cancer. I hope you're doing well now.

Vitamin D Level

Good afternoon. The PA I am seeing for osteoporosis recommended that I lower my Vitamin D supplement from 5,000 to 1,000 because she said I have a high level. The range is 30-99, my level is 82.3. With winter coming I'm not sure that I want to do that. I spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer ...

Re: Alkaline phosphatase bone specific

Thank you so much for thorough response. The bottom line says it all. I am not at risk for fracture. I am able to stand on one leg for a minute and I will continue to work on maintaining good balance as I know that falling puts us at risk for fracture.
Once again I am very grateful for your help in ...

Alkaline phosphatase bone specific

Good afternoon, Tex. The results of my bloodwork ordered by the PA at the Rheumatologist are coming in. My alkaline phosphatase bone specific is 27.3. The range is 5.6-29.0. I Googled and a high number could indicate bone cancer or Osteomalacia, etc. I believe having an IBD can cause the number to ...

Reclast

Hi,Tex. After the DEXA scan which indicated that I have osteoporosis of the spine, by PCP referred me to a Rheumatologist. I met with the PA last week and she recommended a Reclast infusion once a year because of the LC. She ordered blood work which I had this week and I'll see her at the end of the ...

Re: DAiry or Gluten Ease, or TriEnza? does that help ?

Hello. I have used Gluten Ease when I eat in a restaurant & I'm not sure if my meals will be safe. I'm going to look into the Gluten Assist that Brandy mentioned because I like to avoid chemicals as well. I have never had a problem with the Gluten Ease.

When I'm going to an event and I want to take ...

Re: Osteoporosis

Thanks, Tex. I’m leaning toward the genetic aspect. My sister has osteopenia as well as RA & PMR. I’m afraid to have any other tests done! I feel good!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Re: Osteoporosis

Hi, Tex. Thank you for your response. I take Dr’s Best magnesium glycinate 2xday, but it’s only 100 mg. each. How much would you recommend?

I appreciate the information about genetics. I have a family reunion tomorrow & will be the perfect opportunity to talk with some of the other women.

Osteoporosis

Hello! I turned 65 in May & recently had my first bone density scan. i just read the report & it says that I have osteoporosis! That is a complete shock to me. My vitamin D level is fine and I have been an avid walker for years, which I thought builds bone strength.
Any recommendations as to what I ...

Thanks for sharing, Tommy & Rosie. This group is the best!
I have been tempted to try a bit of ice cream but have been afraid to do so. Maybe I'll try it when we're at the beach this summer and every other person is enjoying it! Maybe just a taste!
