History of a flare-up -- Summary and question
Three months ago, I experienced a severe flare-up of MC -- the first in some 14 years -- quite likely brought on by an excess of anti-inflammatory supplements. In an attempt to help pancreas function (after being diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis), I started taking curcumin extract + piperine ...

Re: Colitis malabsorption--B12 deficiency--Neurological Symptoms
Thank you for the detailed answer. I think I'm 100% clear on this issue.
Yes, I meant Doctors Best Magnesium Glycinate, of course. (I was considering it at the same time with Thorne Methyl Guard Plus and I mixed up the two long names...)

Re: Colitis malabsorption--B12 deficiency--Neurological Symptoms
This seems like a lot. How did you determine this dose?
Also, are all magnesium supplements equal or is there something special about Thorne Methyl Guard Plus?
Sorry I'm asking so many questions but I'd like to make the right decision up front.
Thank you.

Re: Colitis malabsorption--B12 deficiency--Neurological Symptoms
Thank you for this information. I see that Doctors Best Brand Magnesium Glycinate has 50, 100, and 200 mg tablets and caps. What should be the daily dosage and how should it be taken?

Re: Colitis malabsorption--B12 deficiency--Neurological Symptoms
I don't remember ever having my magnesium checked. It was probably a mistake.
Here is what Perplexity has to say about the magnesiom-eGFR link:
"1. Advanced CKD (Stages 4–5):
Serum magnesium levels increase as eGFR declines due to impaired renal excretion. For example:
Patients with eGFR 15–29 mL ...

Re: Colitis malabsorption--B12 deficiency--Neurological Symptoms
Dear Wayne,
Thank you so much for this important post. I had no awareness of MTHFR gene mutations and different presentations of B vitamins.
My creatinine happens to be rather high: 1.49 the last time it was measured, a few months ago, which at my height and weight translates to an eGFR of around 46 ...

Re: Colitis malabsorption--B12 deficiency--Neurological Symptoms
I've also had neuropathy in my feet for many years. Never thought too much about it as my mother also had it and I just assumed it was the normal course of aging. And I have significant (though not debilitating) hand tremor, which was diagnosed by neurologists as "essential tremor." Again, I didn't ...

Re: Budesonide constipation?..
I'm back for further guidance... After dropping from 9 mg of Budesonide to 6 mg 10 days ago, I'm again experiencing mild C and started taking the stool softner again. Is it time to drop to 3 mg? All this time I've been sticking to the strictest diet, eating nothing but fish, turkey, rice, potatoes ...

Re: Budesonide constipation?..
Thank you very much. I will do so. I didn't think it would kick in so fast -- after one week. I was prepared for a long and slow weaning process.

Budesonide constipation?..
Tex, can I ask you whether you think I'm experiencing Budesonide C?
I started this flare-up 12 days ago, with WD up to 12x/day.
9 days ago I started 9 mg of Budesonide. On subsequent days, WD went from 7x, 12x, 5x, 6x, 6x, 4x, 1x, C and C (today).
In your opinion, is this Budesonide C or MC C ...

Thank you all for pitching in.
Erica, I'm not sure I understand the connection between salmon and tuna. Are you saying that the sensitivity to tuna may have increased because you've been eating a great deal of salmon? How is that supposed to work?

Re: Canned tuna
Are some fish more prone than others or is it entirely idiosyncratic? In meats, I think I've seen a ranking ranging in susceptibility from chicken at the top to beef at the bottom.

Canned tuna
I've seen a lot of talk about canned tuna on the forum but no conclusive discussion. Speaking strictly about tuna in brine: Is it generally safe for us or does it count as processed food?
