Re: Starting Colestipol and some questions.

Fat is unfortunately not your friend anymore. I can for sure tell when I've had too much fat. I've learned to moderate it. And when it does happen - because it does - that's usually when I need to increase my dosage.

I would suggest you try 4 pills for a few days and see how that works for you. My ...

Re: Starting Colestipol and some questions.

Hi Julie

I'm one of the posters who is currently taking Colestipol. I'm not convinced I actually have BAM, but it sure does keep things normal for me.

I was on budesonide from February until about mid-July. I had a very bad flare start in February, which I now suspect may have been triggered by ...

Re: Colestipol

I forgot to mention that my new pills are yellow! I have also changed my dosage to 3 a night, dropping down from 4 a night. I was feeling a little backed up, and decided to drop one pill. The colestipol continues to work very well for me. I am probably jinxing myself, but I feel like I won the colon ...

Re: Colestipol

Hello Laine

I actually got a refill this past week, and opened the bottle yesterday. These pills are shorter in length but thicker. They seemed easier to take last night. My prescription is for one bottle with 120 pills, and my insurance does pay for part of it. My cost is about 65 a bottle. At ...

Re: Colestipol

Hi Laine

When I decided to go to four pills a night, I said to myself "that lady on the boards takes 8 freakin' packets a day! I can do four pills".

And so far it seems to work pretty well.

I am curious - does one of your packets equal one tablet of colestipol (1 gram)?

The pills are big, and ...

Re: Colestipol

Hello

I wanted to update my post regarding colestipol. I had said earlier that I was having "loose" movements, and would start the colestipol again if they got too "loose".

Of course they became too loose. I mean, what was I thinking??? So for the past two weeks I have been taking colestipol ...

Re: Colestipol

Thank you again Wayne! I have experienced nearly everything referenced on your attachment! Goodness.

It would certainly explain my seasonal flares. The spring flare is usually pretty bad, but I also get milder flares in the fall when it finally starts cooling down.

I need to research and see if I ...

Re: Colestipol

That is so kind of you Tex, to suggest a antihistamine! I had thought the same thing myself. And when I am flaring and pondering the tile on my bathroom floor, I am also blowing my nose like crazy!

I told the PA all these things this past week. She said other patients have told her this as well ...

Re: Colestipol

Hello!

I didn't realize my post had been commented on!

At this moment I am not on any medication for my CC. I have what I describe as loose stools about once a day. If I need to go out, I may take an imodium or half an imodium.

I actually met with my PA from the GI clinic earlier this week. She ...

Colestipol

Hello Guys I started a pretty significant flare back in early April. We were due to leave for a family vacation, so I caved and started taking budesonide. This was my second round on budesonide. It worked very quickly for me and was very effective. But I don't want to take it indefinitely as I was ...

Re: Questions On BAM and Bile

Morning! I'm going to second what @threegen said! Thank you Tex for keeping this site up! I read it for several hours each week. There is a TON of information in here. It helps so much knowing that I am not alone in this illness.

I am a fairly new member here, and was diagnosed last year. But I've ...

Re: Have my Enterolab results

Thank you Gabes - that's exactly what I decided to do. I am avoiding the other triggers when I can.

My flare has calmed down considerably. This happened right as I received a new prescription for Budesonide from my GI. So I decided to wait and not take the medication. We went on four day trip to ...

Have my Enterolab results

I sent my frozen poo to Texas on Tuesday, and got the results last night! Man they were quick!
