Re: CT Enterography
Your suspicions are correct —
That said, all this is just my opinion.
Tex
I absolutely appreciate your opinion! Thank you. There is a risk that insurance will not cover the entire thing, as happened with all of the labs this MD ordered from “his lab”.
I need for him to fill out paperwork for ...

Re: CT Enterography
are you able to change to a different gastro?
The test he is suggesting is used moreso for crohns
if you are having good results with cholestryamine, and having minimal symptoms why the need for another test that will not confirm or deny MC?
He said it was to look for crohns, which he tested ...

CT Enterography
My gastroenterologist a.k.a. the ignorant devil, still cannot get over the fact that budesonide did not cure my collagenous colitis. He tells me he’s not buying my story, I remind him. It wasn’t a story. It was a biopsy he says because it wasn’t him doing the procedure or his lab he’s not again ...

Re: Cholestyramine and insomnia
Thank you all for chiming in on this. I have been slowly making some changes that have resulted in minimal disruption. I am now able to take some simple supplements at a time of day that works for me, they were making me sleepy, now I take them in the evening (4-5 hours before the cholestyramine ...

Cholestyramine and insomnia
I started cholestyramine 4 days ago. 1 packet before bed. Working well so far. Only 1 bm per day since starting, and they are Norman. Problem is that I’m waking up all night long, either to pee or just awake. I read that this can be a side effect. I am hoping it will simmer down once I acclimate ...

Re: New Doctor, wants colonoscopy?
John- I appreciate your concern and tact. I stopped eating meat for a variety of reasons, including environmental, health, and spiritual. Interestingly enough, it all started with a tick bite and questionable AGS, or alpha-gal syndrome. Not eating meat is ahimsa for me, the practice of non-violence ...

Re: New Doctor, wants colonoscopy?
Your new Doctor is wrong — Budesonide does not work for everyone.
When a patient's MC does not respond to their recommended treatment, most gastroenterologists who don't understand the disease, immediately assume that they've missed something, and they request another colonoscopy to discover what ...

Re: New Doctor, wants colonoscopy?
In regard to your list of foods: I had a big reaction to rice three years ago. Not that you are necessarily reacting to rice (many MCers are o.k. with rice) but you might consider it a possibility.
I give protein powders/drinks a wide berth. Those commercial protein products always seem to have ...

Re: New Doctor, wants colonoscopy?
I am going to add this here: won't loperamide effect stool tests? How long do I have to be off antidiarrheal before gathering samples? The lab didn't even tell me if the tests had to be on separate days or from same BM .

New Doctor, wants colonoscopy?
I knew my hopes were unrealistic.
I was diagnosed February this year. Went on Budesonide soon after. 9mg for 8 weeks, started 6mg and my doctor's office stopped returning calls or answering chart messages. New doctor today, he seemed *shocked* that the budesonide did not work. It works for ...

Re: Vegetarian
Thank you, Tex. I am allergic to shellfish, I also am sensitive to bottom dwelling sea creatures who contain higher levels of heavy metals like mercury. I can not afford the tests at this time, maybe someday. Thank you again for your input.

Make sure to check what form of vitamin B is in the transdermal. Cyanocobalamin vs. methylcobalamin
Cyanocobalamin is more common form of vitamin B12 made synthetically with cyanide.
Methylcobalamin is the more natural and may easier to absorb.

Can other Medication Cause MC?
Last January I started taking a medication for Narcolepsy called Wakix. A brief description of its mode of action:
Wakix, specifically pitolisant, blocks the histamine H3 receptor, a type of receptor on nerve cells that normally regulates histamine release.

Magnesium Question
I am a slow metabolizer. Thins seem to stay in my system a long time. I started taking magnesium at night to help with muscle cramping and peripheral neuropathy. I could not take the recommended dose of 2 tablets because I would actually feel groggy the next day. I took one tablet for a while, but ...

Vegetarian
I am newly diagnosed MC (Collagenous). I am hoping that there are some vegetarians here to help me out. I need protein sources. I am eating Tofu, pea protein powder and some brown rice protein. I eat one egg a day. I know that these could be sources of inflammation but I have tolerated these well so ...
