my activities in Amman (blog)

Post by harma »

After weeks of doing nothing, sigh, lazy me, I finally becoming active again, I already had an idea of what I wanted to do here and that is start up an events agenda, mainly born out of selfish needs. I like to go to see a movie (art-house the non hollywood stuff), go to a classical concert, like (modern) art or any interesting lecture. But from day one I have been looking around it is was there (here) and if yes, where. The conclusion is yes, it is available here. But also yes difficult to find. I have done me research the last three months and had already for a while of making an weekly events calender of Amman. And today I started with this. First I will prepare it weekly and publish it on my blog (you have to start from somewhere). Step two will be print it out every week and hang in in several places in Amman and from there we will see how things will develop.

But to give you an idea of what I made of the first Amman Weekly Events Agenda (an initiative and made by Harma Margrieta Hingstman     ) please take a look at http://harmamargrieta.wordpress.com/

I am quite proud on my first edition, of course it will need improvement, more events etc, but at least I know now what I want to do here (a start) and have something to put my energy on.

Excellent! You have a good reason to be proud - you're off to a great start.

Good luck with this new adventure.

Congratulations, Harma - an excellent beginning indeed. And now you have momentum to build on... I bet you attract a nice following, even if it takes a little while for the word to get out.

Harma,

I am impressed!!! What a wonderful idea and a great start! Kudos to you! An idea - are there universities around that would have regularly-scheduled events of this type? My college sends out to all alumnae a quarterly newletter listing all of its public events - dance, poetry readings, guest speakers, concerts, etc.

Love,

Polly

thanks all for the replies, polly university is the only thing I haven't sort out yet. I think so they have, but although in some aspects this country looks very modern, organization and communication is always there strongest points.

And is really amazing with internet what you can do nowadays, with youtube and those smalls films, I was really worried how to get it onto my blog, I thought oh must be really complicated...you just click on share under de film, copy the link and that's it.......oh I thought that's it.
