U2 Concert
Hi Good Buddies!
Last night we went to a U2 concert (my first one) - it was a birthday gift from Scott. Quite an experience! It is their 360 tour, with a giant stage that takes days to erect - looks like a spaceship. The light show and special effects were amazing. Luckily I took ear plugs! I know, I know, pretty nerdy, huh? But I have very sensitive hearing - the sound tracks of trailers at the movies actually hurt my ears! Even with the ear plugs, the decibel level was something else! Anyway, Bono and gang were fantastic!!! The warm up band was Florence and the Machine, and I enjoyed them too.
We took our own food for dinner to avoid paying stadium food prices (and because I had to be sure to have something safe). And we did hit one snag. The opening of the stadium gates was delayed for over an hour. So we sat in 95 degree heat with no bathroom or water available, and I dehydrated fast. Once inside, I needed 5 bottled waters to rehydrate.
My brother is arriving on Sunday (his son is flying here with him, so I didn't have to go get him), so it was good to get out and have fun for an evening. I know seeing him will be so upsetting - jaundiced with a 28 lb. weight loss now. My life is about to change..........
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Polly,
I'm glad you got a night of fun in before all hell breaks loose. I'm going to a Legwarmers concert on Saturday (wish it was U2 instead!) - first concert I've been to in years - they are a popular 80's cover band in DC. Friends roped us into it. I'll remember to take ear plugs, as I have sensitive hearing too. Maybe I can shove some cotton balls or toilet paper in my ears...
Good luck on Sunday. We'll all be thinking of you.

Polly.. That sounds a great time, I am glad you had a chance to get out for some fun. U2 is one of my favorite bands, the first time I saw them is when they did the Redrocks concert in Colorado, that was an inedible show in theta huge natural amphitheater.
The earplugs sound like a good idea, I cannot believe how loud concerts can get.
Your brother is so fortunate to have you there for him. I will certainly keep all of you in my thoughts
Best wishes Polly

I heard them talking about the show on the radio Polly, they were raving! (You know I'm just down the road from you a bit in Maryland, so I knew it was at M&T.) How wonderful that you were able to have a special night out!
I do hope that all goes well with your brother's trip. It's not easy to travel cross country when you're in the best of health, never mind when you are compromised. Well, no doubt he'll get plenty of TLC from his sister when he arrives!
I echo Zizzle's sentiment...you'll be in our thoughts.

Polly,
I once went to a Billy Joel concert wearing earplugs. My daughter took me and couldn't believe I would wear them. I enjoyed it immensely, though.
I hope all goes well with your brother's arrival. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have three brothers and can't imagine watching any of them deteriorate. I hope you and your family will be able to cope with this change in your lives.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
So glad you enjoyed the concert.
Wearing earplugs is not an oldie thing. It is just plain sensible. I always wear them - Linkin Park, Metallica, 30 Seconds to Mars, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, Nickelback... It has been a good year. I am usually right down the front.
A friends son is heavily involved in a campaign to encourage you people to wear ear plugs to all concerts to save their hearing. Not all the youngsters have got the message, sadly.
