Hidden Soy
aside from having some ongoing symptoms for a few weeks mostly due to some stress, for the past couple of months i had been having skin issues 'down there' it wasnt like normal bamboon butt and it wouldnt go away. i had tried paw paw ointment, lanonlin ointment, and various other ointments to remove the irritation. nothing worked
i had been using flushable wipes, mostly at work as it is a bit hard to have washers (Face clothes) at work, strangely i dont recall reading the ingredients and this week i did, and guess what, they have soy based vegetable glycerin in them. I have checked and the dearer brand of wipes doesnt have Vit e or soy.
I avoid any product that has 'vit e' on the label and I thought i was always checking the ingredients thoroughly... like most of us do here and there i tripped up.
via the BIA i have been having 'treatments' to minimise my reaction to highly sensitive ingredients. the treatment for the soy always comes back with low numbers, meaning it hasnt worked. So it appears i am stuck with it being an issue for some time yet.
the good news of the week is that i think i have sought out and hunted down all the stocks of the Rice Rounds (the recently discontinued product) that existed on the east cost of Australia, a few online vendors still had stocks. I have about 20 packs (that contain 8 serves in each) on their way to me... and am continuing the hunt for more
where would we be without the internet!!

I thought I was the only one who cleaned out supplies of products.
I'm glad you are finding so many Rice Rounds. I really had to scour the Internet to find Imodium. Who'd have thought I'd find it at an office supply store?
I also have been a little negligent in looking at labels on lotions, shampoo, etc. Since I had my itchy head sores, I've been a little more diligent. They're gone for the time being. I hope your irritation has cleared up, too.

Yeah Rich, i hear you!
people frequently say it must be hard to find foods that are both gluten and dairy free. I always reply they were the easy ones, it is the damn soy that is hidden in EVERYTHING
the demand for 'soy free' must be increasing, most of the over the counter medicaitons now have soy free in their list with Gluten and lactose.
thanks Gloria for your support, it reminds me that we need to be forever vigilant.
i am doing hording not just with foods, if i find clothing brands/styles that is mc friendly, when the sales are on i buy another one for 'next season' i have two tops that i have purchased doubles of so i have them new for next winter.
as experience has told me that style wont be on the racks next winter.

I have to say I'm more concerned about the irritating qualities of propylene glycol (PG), fragrance and other chemicals in butt wipes. I have to rinse them before use, especially on my kids (who are not soy sensitive). My hubby cannot have PG in any products, especially deodorant - his armpits turn red, itch and peel. It's awful.

Zizzle, i was buying the brands that were 'fragrance free' and had aloe as the main moisteriser... 'Doh'
I am relieved that i figured it out as I was about to go to the doctor, and was nervous about having my butt examed
it was getting mighty uncomfortable, albeit 5 days after ceasing to use them, things have improved dramatically thankfully, as i am about drive a 1200km round trip to attend a funeral interstate, a few days ago it would have been a nightmare but now will be AOK as i can now handle sitting for long periods and i have rice rounds!!
