short update

Post by harma »

This morning, since my flare up started, I had my first BM again    After staring living on fish, chicken, olive oil, tea and of course rice (rice for breakfast, rice for dinner, rice for lunch, rice for snack, rice, rice, rice), the D changed into C. D is horrible feeling, but the feeling of a full bowel is also not very comfortable.

Since a couple of days I started adding more olive oil to my diet and more fiber (apple fiber). And that does seem to do the trick.

Also I do have the feeling things are calming down, I have introduced Banana's back in the diet, so far so good. But still I am very careful with anything I eat.

HI Harma,

Understand the boredom of the rice, rice, rice. I am to the point now that I have to limit the amount of rice or constipation is the result. Go figure when I lived on it for years. Hope things stay better for you and may you have a great day.

Love, Maggie

I wish I had the willpower to limit my diet like that. I thought I was in a flare and finally took one Immodium. After one bout of D that day, I didn't go for 2 days!!! I was starting to feel full and uncomfortable...I was sure a norman would follow. But alas, when I finally went, it was mushy D, as always. I swear Immodium just acts as a butt plug! Does anyone know how it actually works? What it's supposed to do in the colon??

Imodium, (and it's prescription-only relative, lomotil), simply slow down motility, by retarding the peristaltic pumping action of the muscles in the intestinal walls. That's why lomotil contains atropine, because if too much is taken, (it's a narcotic, so abuse is possible), motility can be retarded so effectively that impaction is a risk. Those two meds apparently work not only in the colon, but in the small intestine, as well.

Harma,
If you can get your hands on a natural one called "Diarrhea Stop" by Renew Life. Works as good as Immodium, does not constipate, at least it didn't with me. It is GF and has the following ingredients: Kaolin Clay, Apple Pectin, and Activated Charcoal.

I'm glad you can add a few items to your diet and that has alleviated the C. You've done a great job of sticking to your very restricted diet, and it's paid off. Congratulations!

Hi Harma I'm glad you can have the food issues figured out and that you can start adding some back. I admire your courage in dealing with all of this in a foreign country.

Best wishes Harma

Good news Harma! I do hope you're on your way to a well deserved remission given this rough period you've been going through.

Continued success to you!!
