Went out to eat last night

Post by dgshelton »

It was my dad's birthday, so we took him to a really nice restaurant last night. I made the reservations online on Friday. The reservation page had a place for special requests, so I put down that I have an allergy to gluten, soy, dairy and eggs and asked if they could accommodate me. I didn't hear anything back, but we we got to the restaurant the maitre'd (sp) said that she got the message and had sat down with the chef the night before to go over the menu. She had a menu with all of the things that I could eat circled. I was shocked and overjoyed at the same time! She didn't give me the menu when we sat down, which seemed odd, but when the waiter came to the table he had it in his pocket and said not to worry that he would let the chef know that I was here and they would make sure my food was prepared properly. It was wonderful! I could enjoy my meal without worrying that I would be sick after eating. This restaurant is fairly expensive, so we won't be going there very often, but is so nice to know that there is somewhere that I can go for special. occasions.

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Hugs,
Denise

That's wonderful. Just as heartwarming as your experience at church.

Gabby - I found out today that my priest's father and brother own the restaurant. Her brother is the chef. We live in a fairly big city, so what's the odds of that happening?

That's one very nice family your priest belongs to! How wonderful that you had such a lovely evening out. It's so easy for apprehension to get in the way of a special occasion, and it's such a gift when that kind of thoughtfulness lets us enjoy visiting with family and eating yummy food, instead of worrying.

This made me almost as happy as it must have made you!

Denise,

It sounds like a perfect evening. I'm amazed that they were so accomodating - and relatives of your priest, too! How nice that you have a restaurant that you can go to without worrying.

Morning Denise,

I am so happy for you. Finding a restaurant that is accomodating can be a bit tough. I ate out twice this weekend since we were away from home visiting with our dear friends. One good expereience and one not so good. It definitely pays to call ahead.

Love, Maggie
