my appoint with chiropractor today

Post by nancyl »

I see a chiropractor once a month to keep me aligned. She doesn't do the bone cracking, but more deep tissue massage and manipulation, spends 1/2 hour with me and is wonderful. For many years I have had problems with joint and muscle tightness and I assumed it was because of my workouts, golf, kayaking, biking, dancing, etc. Well, I have been DF, SF, EF for a couple of months, and not totally GF until a week ago (I was still holding on to my 1 slice of bread a day). When I went to her today she couldn't believe the change in my body. She said there was hardly any stiffness, she could manipulate much easier. She said that my blood is flowing better, usually when she works on my back she said I'd have redness in blotches, but today it was evenly red, showing that the blood in moving much better. I have noticed that I can lift heavier weights and haven't been stiff or sore after. She was jumping up and down with excitement. She's been working on me for many years, got me through shoulder surgery and other painful periods.

An update on Entocort. I went down to 2 six days ago and other than a little nausea here and there doing pretty good. I mainly eat pretty much the same things such as mashed or baked potatoes, beef, chicken, pork. Thats dinners, still having a bit of a problem with lunches. I can't wait to eat a salad, but don't dare just yet. I eat a lot of Justin's nut butters on sweet potatoes crackers, and for a snack corn chips, sorbet. My weight did drop a bit again last week from 106 to 104.

The doctor did give me a prescription for Questran, but holding off on that till I really need it. He wanted me to start taking it twice a day beginning a month before I get off Entocort. I am going to wait it out to see how I do.

Just thought I'd share that bit of good news. Wish me luck on the weaning off Entocort totally.

Nancy,

Good for you, for finally breaking completely away from gluten. I have no doubt that will make it much easier for you to lower your Entocort dose, and hopefully it will allow you to eventually phase out the Entocort completely.

:xfingers:

Thanks for the update, and good luck with your treatment program,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Congratulations, Nancy! Great news!

My chiropractor (whom I see weekly) had been stumped by my migraines. When I got my MCC diagnosis, and told to stay away from Gluten and Dairy, she bet that I'd feel better. She's right.

I have had aches and pains in my joints for years. I'm a survivor of bacterial spinal meningitis that nearly killed me (seriously) as a teen. Thus, I have other issues, but never would have thought of gluten and dairy. I hope I recover as well as you seem to have.

Hugs, Sharaine

Wow, Nancy, that's great news! It's really helpful to get positive reinforcement for taking a big step like going GF. GOOD FOR YOU, as Tex says - it sounds as though you're doing great. It's also nice that you have a secret weapon, should you need to rely on the Questran... So glad to hear that things are looking up,

Sara
