Paging Zizzle
Hiya Z,
In answer to your question in the other thread (about bacterial etiology in MC) as to how to spend your medical flex money, I vote for MRT. I can't tell you how valuable it was for me - even after 10 years of mostly good diet management, it has made a huge difference.
Actually, if you have $2000, you could pursue naturopathy and/or rheumatology as well. However, my druthers would be MRT, because once you determine specific food sensitivities and eliminate them, you may have no need for further professional consultation. And, at this point I think it might be best to eat just pure, safe food and not add any preps or meds that the naturopath /rheumatologist might recommend. Just MHO.
Hugs,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Polly,
I hope you don't mind if I copy off of Z's homework and take this advice to heart myself ; I found your experience most enlightening, and since I was "doing OK" with eggs but so much better when I eliminated them, post-Enterolab results, I am most interested to give MRT a try (though a little apprehensive about the LEAP process).
Z,
I'm waiting for that expanded test, too - Mary Beth did recommend waiting for it, back when I was first coming to grips with my Enterolab results; at that time, it was expected around now-ish. I should look into whether our self-employed insurance has a flex spending account option, for next year. I plan to schedule a visit to my PCP for bloodwork/followup - I hope I can persuade her to run some of the tests Mary Beth mentioned when she suggested I consider mast-cell involvement (serum tryptase, urine histamine and urine prostaglandin D2). I'll be bringing her my Enterolab results to include in my chart. I'm wondering whether I should have some AI markers tested, too. My ANA antibodies were normal 14 years ago.
Based on Kari's positive experience, I'm considering a visit to an acupuncturist whose web site discusses food sensitivities, but am not particularly open to adding potions/herbs/meds (oddly, I'd be more open to my own herb/supplement research for an experiment... my experience with preparations from acupuncturists is that they have a lot of different herbs going on, and that's just too risky for me).
Of course, having good info from MRT would help me understand what I want from those acupuncture sessions. I am dreaming of having eggs back on the 'occasional' list someday.
For now, I'm going to do the pure/simple/safe diet thing, and ponder an experiment with oregano oil. I'm keeping Arlene's Nasalcrom 'protocol' in mind, but not trying it. Do you know how much MRT costs? Mary Beth recommended a couple of dieticians in my area - none are very near, so it will be a bit of a project (but of course, MC is already a bit of a project).
Hope you're doing well,
Sara

Z,
Mary Beth has an up to date list - if you tinker with Google search terms, you can rule out other non-dietary sorts of LEAPing ;) Try "certified leap therapist" and virginia (which may not be an authoritative list, but could be a start). I saw some names there, but don't know my north from my south in Va.
There's also a http://northernvirginiadietitians.org/ - don't know why I left out D.C... hopefully you'll hear from Mary Beth - or from someone with a personal recommendation.
OOH, lookie here: Ann Bailey RD, Certified LEAP Therapist Woodbridge, VA 22191 (703) 490-6402 baileyaa@comcast.net. Specialty: Food allergies & sensitivities; wellness

(I do realize you could have done this yourself, but you are busy and I am procrastinating.)

Thanks Mary Beth!
Susan Moore is in the mysterious old stone house at the edge of my old neighborhood! We always thought it was a psychiatric practice or a halfway house!!
Clair LeBrun is a few blocks from my office downtown. But I spoke to her and she's not accepting new patients. She did recommend Susan Moore, so I'll let you know what happens.
