Back from vacation

Post by dgshelton »

Hi, everyone! I have been MIA for the last few weeks. I've missed everyone so much! Welcome to all the newbies! We went to Florida last week and had a great time. My husband and son went on a fishing trip and my son caught his biggest fish ever. I'm going to try to post a picture. We'll see if it works. We ate out a few times, but I tried to eat mostly steamed seafood and grilled meats with steamed veggies and plain baked potatoes. For the most part, I did well. I also upped my Entocort to 9 mgs. while we were on vacation for a little extra precaution.

We have also sold our house and bought a new one in the last couple of weeks, so we'll be moving the first weekend in August. Very exciting, but also very stressful. I'm trying not to get too stressed because we all know what happens when people with MC get stressed!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Hugs,

Wow - awesome catch - that fish is half as big as your son. I can see by the smile on his face he is quite proud! Sounds like you had a great time in Florida.

Congratulations on your house. Unfortunately stress can be our enemy so remember to take some time to center yourself each day, breathe, relax etc. It's always so disconcerting when a good situation throws us into a flare. Hopefully the extra entocort will be the magic bullet to keep things under control for a while.

Hi Denise,

Yep, that's a fish to be proud of, and he obviously is. I see that he has your smile, and he knows how to make good use of it.

Good luck with the moving project. I hope you can stay at least one or two steps ahead of any MC symptoms.

Hugs,
Tex

Hi Denise,

That is a fish and a half and one he will remember for a lifetime. Congrats to him and to you too on the new home. Moving is really a stresser but just try to not push too much and keep the stress to a minimum.

Good luck and love, Maggie

Denise, I've been thinking about you - welcome back!

What a great picture, and what a joyful smile. I'm so glad your vacation was a success.

Congratulations on the house sale/purchase, and I wish you a stress-free move. I know that sounds unrealistic... but actually, I am getting much better at not stressing over things that used to wind me up. I think that perspective might be one of the gifts of MC (if we can keep our priorities in mind, at least most of the time). Plus, you're rested and refreshed from a wonderful trip. I bet if you remind yourself from time to time, you'll find a way to make this exciting transition as smooth as possible. You've already accomplished so much in getting your MC under control.

So glad you shared that picture - I'll be smiling every time it pops into my head today.

Love,
Sara

Denise,

Wow, that is one fine fish! Your son deserves to be very proud.

I hope your move goes well, and that you can keep yourself from getting too stressed. Moves are always hard. All those small decisions are the worst.

My son, DIL, and granddaughter leave today for Thailand, from our house. They have been packing and repacking for days, trying to get everything under the weight allowance for their luggage. I'm glad to be done with those days, and hope I don't have to do it again any time soon. They are dreading the 30+ hours of flights with an 18-month-old.

Love,
Martha

Great fish!! Did he eat it too? I moved for the third time in 12 months 2 weeks ago and the MC flare is just now starting to calm down. Hope you have better luck than me! Then again, I still have contractors in my house every day, so life is not normal yet. I've noticed my MC is worse when I'm home. I think it may be related to all the carrying of boxes and physical activity of unpacking, coupled with feeling otherwise fairly relaxed at home and snacking more often. When I'm home and the urge strikes, I have to RUN to a bathroom now.

Congrats on the house sale and purchase!

Mary Beth- That was the biggest smile I've ever seen on him. The guy that took them out fishing put that picture on his facebook page as advertisement. Thanks for the advice on deep breathing. That always seems to help.

Maggie- He will definitely remember that trip.

Tex- I hope to stay a couple steps ahead and like Mary Beth said, take lots of deep breaths.

Sara- Thank you. You are right that if I put things in proper perspective, the transition should be smooth. I tend to get myself stressed by thinking too much about what could go wrong. I'm going to try to put a positive spin on my thought instead.

Martha- I'm only moving across town. Thinking about your son moving to Thailand with an 18 month old, definitely puts things into perspective for me! I hope everything goes smoothly for them.

Zizzle- We cooked the fish that night and it was delicious, so fresh tasting. Wow, you have moved 3 times in 12 months? It's no wonder that you've been in a flare! That definitely puts things into perspective for me!

Hugs,
Denise
