Mary Beth,
Your list of histamine-rich foods reads like 90% of my diet! If I have mast cell issues, I don't think I want to know!! I suppose since I'm not reacting terribly when I eat those foods, there's a good chance mast cells are not my issue? I just keep having painless, non-frequent D. But I rarely have to go running to the bathroom after a meal, histamine rich or not. Do mast cell issues cause more obvious reactions after eating?

That's been my sentiment every step of the way during these past four years. I'm always dragged to the conclusion that I have a problem with the food.

My immediate reaction to eating high histamine foods is one or more mouth sores. I don't usually have immediate D; BM's are just worse the next day. I also have an uneasy stomach. I didn't recognize my histamine intolerance until I realized that I had problems with nearly all of the high-histamines food list Mary Beth posted.

Sometimes my reaction is immediate, sometimes delayed by hours, or the next morning. If my BM's aren't formed, I know I'm reacting.

I think for the most part the D comes the next day. However, in the past when I was having big histamine/cytokine episodes, D was immediate, but it was also accompanied by tachycardia, sweating, throat swelling and a feeling if impending doom (like anaphylaxis). I haven't heard others talk about the big reactions like I get.

Gloria, I am with you on wanting to deny this problem. It really stinks!
