I have questions

Post by crankygrammy08 »

I just started taking Entocort 3mg 3 caps a day...still feeling like I did when I was first diagnosed. How long does it take for it to start working? Also, I didn't have a period for 2 months and started last month and symptoms seem to come back after stopping is there a connection? I have lost 3 pounds from when I was at my doctors appt on the 18th of July. I'm sorry I am not an eloquent writer.

Hi,

It usually takes from a few days to a few weeks to see some improvement from Entocort, but in some cases it takes 6 to 8 weeks, or more. We all respond differently to medications used to treat MC. Entocort doesn't work for everyone, but it typically shows about a 65 to 75% success rate within about 6 weeks.

Hormone levels definitely affect the disease, especially estrogen and progesterone levels, and symptoms usually become worse during menses, for many women, though the opposite effect is possible in some cases. For some women, pregnancy can make their symptoms much worse, while for others, their symptoms almost completely disappear, and then return after delivery, after hormone levels return to a more normal state. Some members here have found that the use of birth control pills or patches, can trigger their symptoms.

Your writing is just fine - don't worry about it.

I hope the Entocort starts working to relieve your symptoms soon.

Thank you. I hope something works for me...its very frustrating to think something is going to work and then you're back to square one.

crankygrammy,

Welcome - I'm sorry to hear you're not getting rid of these symptoms.

I don't know if you've tried dietary approaches to managing your MC symptoms. That's what has made ALL the difference to me, in getting my life back. The Entocort is a wonderful opportunity to put a stop to the inflammation that is messing with your system. If you use that opportunity to remove the foods that are causing that inflammation, you are likely to get last relief sooner...

As you may have figured out, from reading various things on this forum, virtually all of us cannot tolerate gluten, which is in wheat and other grains (rye, barley... and oats for most of us), and also dairy... other foods sensitivites vary from person to person, though quite a lot of us find we cannot tolerate soy, and many other beans/legumes...

It's definitely a project, switching what/how we eat, but feeling better makes it so worthwhile. Let us know what you've been trying, and we'll do our best to help you figure out what you might try next... we have all been there.

All my best,

Sara
