Why do I only have D at home??

Post by Zizzle »

I've noticed an interesting pattern with my MC, and can't figure out why this is, or if it's typical. I almost always have my D at home, and when I need to go, it's URGENT!! I go to work all day and rarely need the bathroom. I can go out places without much worry. I rarely have D when I'm out and about, but when I'm home...I have multiple pitstops in the evenings and on weekends, and sometimes I can't even make it to the bathroom in time!! If I didn't have a bathroom on every level, I'd be in big trouble. I suppose I should consider myself lucky, but why all the MC activity at home??

A few factors to note:
The D is not necessarily after meals and not every morning.
We just went through (and continue) the final stages of a major renovation, but I feel relaxed at home.
I am on my feet a lot at home cooking, cleaning, organizing, unpacking boxes, etc.

Could it simply be all the physical demands of housework that set off the urgent D? :headscratch:

Z,

That is interesting. I have no insight - it is certainly more usual for me to have D at home, but it's rarely urgent, and it's predictably a morning phenom, so I've more or less structured my days around not having appointments out of the house till a little later.

I believe you that you're relaxed. I wonder whether that's part of it - you *can* have D at home, because you have a bathroom on every floor... maybe some habitual worry about this has your nervous system "wired" not to sabotage you in this way while at work (which would be amazing, because it would be MC acting on your side, instead of against you... when does *that* happen??).

Curiouser and curiouser...

Zizzle,

Obviously, you have a well-behaved and considerate case of MC - it has adapted to suit your lifestyle.

Seriously, back when I was reacting, I did everything I could, to encourage getting all the bathroom trips out of the way before going to work, and that usually kept things under control until I got back home in the evenings. I wasn't as lucky as you, though, because once and a while, it didn't work. :sigh:

Wow, that is amazing. Accidents didn't care where I was or what I was doing. They ruled the day. I'm glad you are having better luck and I hope it continues. Actually, I hope you heal enough so you don't have them anywhere.

This is an interesting post. For years, pre MC, I would have a BM at home in the morning but whenever I traveled, I seldom went. If I was gone long enough I eventually would but it was like "there's no place like home" on some subconscious level. My severe D only lasted a couple of months and I was able to be home for most of that time so I didn't get a chance to test it further.

Yes, this is a very interesting post. My body does not care where I am. However, there is a distinct pattern that I work around and have for years. It's not reliable, nor consistent, but a pattern just the same. I schedule everything for as late in the day as possible, in hopes things will have settled down. Plus a lot of times I avoid doing things out of fear. You know how it is.....you get that "gut feeling" that you'd better stay near a bathroom......

Deb,
I also go much less when I travel. Can't be all the restaurant food! So I attribute it to dehydration from airplane travel or low-level activity from car travel. I do get stressed when I travel...not sure why that would make me go less. My kids are very regular and they often get constipated when we travel. Maybe my house and kitchen are totally gluten contaminated!
