SO FRUSTRATED! AUGHHHHHHH

Post by jmayk8 »

So i need meds. I am having a hard time with the D and the Asacol HD worked for a little while and then the D came back-So I stopped taking it. I then realized there was lactose in it so duh, that's why it started to be a problem. So I have REALLY been focusing on diet and things aren't changing. I called my GI yesterday to ask for a new script for reg asacol or liadia (sp?) Sooo, I don't get a call back until now (almost a day and 1/2 later) by his secretary saying that none of the meds would help me bc I have LC. What is that supposed to mean??! He said that I should just take pepto or immodium. I am SO ANNOYED. Also, I have HORRENDOUS back acne and it's so gross. So I feel really great about myself, D and back acne. aughhhhhhhh

It means that your doctor is either ignorant, or stupid, or both. Or maybe he's just a sarcastic smart-ass. :sigh: Either way, you're better off without him.

Regular Asacol also contains lactose, but Lialda does not. Colazal, Pentasa, and Apriso are also 5-ASA meds, (based on mesalamine), but they also do not contain lactose.

Maybe your PCP will prescribe one of them for you, now that you have a diagnosis of MC. You don't really need a GI specialist, any longer, especially if he doesn't know anything about treating the disease. At least, you certainly don't need that one.

Good luck with getting some medical help.

Jennie,

Thinking of you. I do hope your primary care physician calls you tomorrow. Tex is correct, if you can get a prescription from your regular doctor, more power to you. Sounds like your GI is ignorant.

Sending you healing thoughts and peaceful energy.

Jennie,

I'm sorry your GI is so ignorant. I'm amazed that he even gave you the correct diagnosis. You're better off without him. I hope you can find another one.

Boy do the majority of GIs just piss me off. How stupid, ignorant and just horrid to you. Hope your PCP works out for the meds.

Love, Maggie

I have to agree with Maggie----half the time I wonder if its the $$$$$ they see walking in the door and not a person who needs help--
Hoping that U get to feeling better----

thanks for the support..I waited ALL day again today for a call back (i was told they would call me back first thing this morning) It's now 10pm and have given up hope. My PC said that I need to get the meds from my GI. So I ended up calling a new GI today and I probably sounded so pathetic and hopeless on the phone they told me to come in tomorrow for a consultation. I really hope it will work out. I'm getting pretty desperate feeling like crap (literally)

By golly, that's a good sign if they were willing to see you that promptly. Maybe this doctor actually cares about his or her patients. That's very unusual for a GI specialist.

I'm optimistic, too, that this may work out for you.

Good luck tomorrow,
Tex
