Thank you

I just wanted to thank you just for being here. I got diagnosed with microscopic colitis a couple of years ago, but have had it for 10+ years. Until I was diagnosed, I was told, A: Since we can't find anything, there must be nothing wrong and you're imagining all this (my imagination is not that good), B: Since we can't find anything it must be acid reflux, here have an antacid. (I'd never had heartburn before until I took that little purple pill) and C : it's all in your head....(quite the contrary actually, the problem was much lower in the body). Then I found you. All of you with much the same problem. Ahhhhhhh, unbelievable relief. I cannot tell you how much that means. I'm not nuts. There are others who are willing to share what they know. So a great, big THANK YOU to you all.[/i]

Thank you Applecookie!! and :welcome:

I do not believe any GI conditions originate "all in your head." Blaming patients' emotions or mental state is one of the biggest tragedies in MC underdiagnosis and "IBS diagnosis." If they can't find it, then it must not be there.

Hi Applecookie,

Welcome to our internet family. I was just like you, when I first found the old discussion board that predated this one - I couldn't believe that there could be so many people who were just like me, when my doctors didn't have the foggiest idea what was wrong with me.

Thanks for the kind words, and I hope that you can find the answers to your questions here.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Similar to yourself, getting the diagnosis and finding this web site meant that years of werid symptoms 'made sense'.

to then be part of this wonderful group of people, who give so much of their time and energy to help each of us through the huge maze that is MC Management.

welcome to the group.

my advice to people re MC is that there is no right way or wrong way, there is your way.
what works for one may not work for another, the key to success is figuring out what works for you.

take care

We're glad you found us. Feel free to ask questions. We are here to share our experiences and help you.

Morning Applecookie and Welcome!

You have definitely found a real source of information here and a family that cares about each and every member. I have been a resident here from way back in the beginning and it really saved me. Feel free to ask anything and pretty sure someone will have the answer. If you have a bad day we will pick you up.

Applecookie,
This may make you feel better - a Hollywood actress explaining her life-long search for a diagnosis, being told she was crazy and depressed, only to discover that it was Celiac disease all along.

Welcome! You will get an education reading this website. I spent a year being treated by my family doctor who had me taking Prilosec, which made my condition worse. Then, when I was diagnosed with colitis, I was given little information on what to eat, just a prescription for Entorcort and advice, "avoid fiber". This website is my support system. Even on bad days when I mess up I still get love and encouragement not to mention great advise from other people's personal experience. Hang in there!
