Milk Beats Water And Sports Drinks For Rehydrating Kids

Post by tex »

Really? That sounds impressive, doesn't it, especially when you read the article at the following link, and see that:
"Children become dehydrated during exercise, and it's important they get enough fluids, particularly before going into a second round of a game," said lead researcher Brian Timmons, research director at McMaster's child health and exercise medicine program. "Milk is better than either a sports drink or water because it is a source of high quality protein, carbohydrates, calcium and electrolytes."

Unfortunately, if you look a bit farther, you find that the study was funded by - you guessed it - the Dairy Farmers of Canada.

Is it just my imagination, or are most research articles slowly but steadily morphing into infomercials, these days.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Well, Tex, if those kids were going to get another source of protein along with their not-so-nutritious water, they'd have to chew! No doubt the cairy counsel is researching the loss of energy involved there, and how it might adversely affect the kids' hockey teams.
