10 days without diarrhea, during a week of which I was constipated and horribly uncomfortable, so I took some laxative. Today the diarrhea came back big time, so I had to go back to the imodium, benefiber to get it under control. It's a bit better now, but it knocked me out. Totally.
Those of you who get constipated, what do you do for it to restore some balance without getting a diarrhea attack?
Very bad day today

i can totally relate, MC for me involves constipation or MC mud, there is no 'happy medium'
after some recent hemorrhoid banding (due to the going C) the GI specialist recommended the product 'Parachoc' the labelling and information states it is for children i have found it is awesome for me as it doesnt cause cramping or sends my system into D, using this product i am having normal BM's without discomfort. (I dont take any other meds for MC)
it is gluten free, lactose free and sugar free, tastes ok to take.
a daily dose of 10-15ml has worked out to be the magic number for me. When i had C from pain killers i was taking about 30ml

I think this is an australian product so i am not sure if there is something similar in the states.Children’s Parachoc is a lubricant laxative containing liquid paraffin. It contains no bowel stimulant so it’s suitable for long term use.
Children’s Parachoc works by gently lubricating the bowel wall and softening the faecal mass. This makes the stool easier for children to pass and helps children achieve an ideal bowel movement.

Hi Lesley, and welcome! I also do the D and C variations of MC. I have diverticulosis, so that makes me careful of the C manifestation, too. I am not a big pill person--I have been blessed to be able to control my symptoms with diet--so I monitor the fiber I eat carefully. As my gut has started to heal I can do more fiber, but in the beginning eating an apple, for example, (or just applesauce, for goodness' sake) was enough to get things going again.
