MRT testing is on its way!

Post by Beth »

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I had the MRT testing done yesterday and will let you know what I hear in 2 weeks. Thank you SO much for the information you provided about this testing and the LEAP diet. I am really excited to put an end to these crazy flares. The good news is that I've been able to get back to almost-Norman by eating a very simple diet, which I plan to follow for a good long time. Also, I think I discovered one of my problem just this morning: my fish oil pills have SOY. Ai yai yai! The diligence we must practice is amazing, isn't it?

Thanks for your help . . . have a great weekend!

Elizabeth,

I'm curious to see your MRT results. Remember MRT doesn't show all sensitivities, so remind your dietitian that soy, dairy and gluten grains are common offenders.

Yes, we have to be very diligent and can no longer be carefree about what we put in our mouths. Simplifying your diet (no many processed foods) really helps this happen easier.

Way to go, Elizabeth! I can't wait to hear what you learn.

I use a liquid fish oil, and Vitamin D drops - no soy in either one. It was easier to find GF/SF supplements that weren't in capsules, though the pill-form ones do exist!

Good luck, and keep us posted,

Mary Beth - yep, you're right. I don't eat any processed foods. I cook everything myself and buy as much as I can from my farmer's market.

Sara - what brand of fish oil do you use? I went to Whole Foods yesterday to look for soy-free versions and couldn't find anything!

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

I use Carlson's lemon-flavored fish oil - I found another brand, but haven't tried it yet: http://strongerfasterhealthier.com/products - they have more flavors. I emailed them, and they pointed me to *another* site, where they have a product that is unflavored (as a dietary control freak, I'd rather flavor my food myself, thanks!) - but I'm not at my own computer, so don't have that link handy.

I am actually capable of drizzling fish oil on a boring turkey burger, so you might want to take it with a grain of salt when I tell you I don't mind the taste at all  More typically we use it in smoothies several times a week.

Hope this helps,

Sara

Thanks, Sara. That's some pricey oil up there! I'll check out Carlson's.

Beth,

I'll find the email from that woman, and post it - she sent me a link to another site whether they were having a special, with huge savings off that price-y price...

I like the Carlson's orange flavor in my smoothies.
