Hi, everyone - it's been a while..

Post by dgshelton »

Hello again! I have been MIA for some time now. My IPad met it's demise when I dropped it in a puddle. My sweet husband was thoughtful enough to get me a new one for my birthday, so I am able to get online again!

We moved into the new house and have everything unpacked. The move wasn't nearly as stressful as I thought it would be. My daughter's upcoming wedding (in two weeks) is a different story, though. My head has been spinning with all of the last minute details, along with trying to keep my high-strung daughter calm.

I weaned off of Entocort about a month ago and have also been able to wean off the pain medication that I have been on for the last 5 years. Everything was good until we went down to S. Louisiana for a wedding shower. Tropical storm Lee hit while we were there. That's where my IPad met it's demise. I was really stressed being on the road with all of the wind and rain. We ate out and I think I got glutened. Watery D started when we got home and hasn't stopped. It's been a little less than 2 weeks, but nothing is slowing it down. Imodium has helped a little, but it just seems to delay the inevitable.

I'm hoping the D calms down before the wedding. I may have to get back on Entocort if it doesn't.

We are having a terrible drought here in NW Louisiana. I think we've had a little more rain than Tex, though. There have been tons of wild fires. The closest was about 10 miles away. The smoke was so thick it blocked the sunlight. So many people have lost homes. I hope we have a good rainfall soon, but please not on my daughter's wedding day!

I am glad to be back online! I have lots to catch up on. I hope everyone is doing well!

Hugs,
Denise

Horror of horrors, to be sure.

You may need to get back on Entocort. I never took it but from what everyone here says, the effects last about 5 weeks, so that could be the cause of your ongoing D.

Glad to hear you have settled in with the move. Hopefully your daughters wedding will go smoothly and then you can focus on you.

Are you still planning to go to Dr. Fine's seminar?

Hi Denise,

That's a heck of a note. At home, you probably couldn't have found a puddle to drop an iPad into if your life depended on it.

I'm sorry to hear about the flare, but I agree with Mary Beth. With the added stress of your daughter's upcoming wedding, I'm afraid the chances of remission occurring are about as likely as winning the lottery. If I were in your situation, I would probably give some serious thought to taking Entocort again, and worrying about weaning off sometime after the wedding. MC does not have a reputation as a benevolent disease.

Thanks for the update.

Hugs,
Tex

Mary Beth - I forgot all about Dr. Fine's seminar. Thanks for reminding me! The 5th is my wedding anniversary. Dallas would be a nice getaway. Is there a deadline for registering?

Hugs,
Denise

Denise,
Sorry to hear about your flare. I would also get back on Entocort. You want to enjoy that wedding.

Hope you feel better soon.

Denise,

I'm not sure about a deadline. Maybe best to call them (enterolab should have the answers).

Hope to see you (and tex) there. I will be at the meeting on Nov 4.

Oh my, Denise,

When it rains it pours (literally, LOL!). You certainly have multiple reasons to have more than your share of stress. I can relate to your comment about driving in the rain. I was out driving in "Lee" and was scared to death when the rain came down in torrents that completely blocked all visibility. Not to mention driving on flooded roads.

Congrats on surviving your move (a move rates 100 points on the stress scale), and best wishes for a glitch-free wedding.

Love,

Polly

Hi Denise,

I agree with Mary Beth. I think that you are feeling the effects of Entocort slowly diminishing in your system. I agree that you should resume taking it for your daughter's wedding.

Good luck with the wedding plans!

OK, I think I'll go with the consensus and get back on Entocort. I still have some refills left. I was leaning that way, but it's really nice to have all if you to bounce things off of. You are all so helpful during times like these!

Hi Denise,

Nice to see an update from you, although I wish it would have been a better one :(. Going back on entocort for now certainly seems like the right decision based on the volumes of posts I've read here over time.

Best of luck with your daughter's wedding, and getting your flare under control.

Love,
Kari

Denise, I've missed your presence here - very sorry to hear about your iPad, and even sorrier about your flare.

I have to get on board with the group and agree that whatever gets you through the stresses and joys and rewards of this wedding with the most equanimity is the best possible answer - I know you can and will solve your MC puzzle with diet alone, once you get past this current hurdle. But for now, Entocort seems like the mother-of-the-bride's best friend  And you can also think of it as an investment - the more fabulously healthy you feel, the sooner your daughter will be open to pondering her own genetic relationship to gluten.

Feel terrific, enjoy this fraught and wonderful time in all your lives, and - it's nice to have you back ;) Congrats on the move and speedy settling in (and wishing you as well as Tex some gentle, steady rain, but NOT on the Special Day).

Love,
Sara
