Took a walk on the wild side ,,,big mistake!!!!

I had oatmeal from mcdonalds on Thursday what a big error that was brought the D. Back in a bad way. Immodium usually keeps the D. In check not this time I have taken 12 pills and it hasn't helped at all. This sucks in a big way. I think I'm going to stop eating for a few days. I have to take a trip to Chicago on Monday and the last thing I need is D. On the plane.

Contrary to what most celiac "experts" claim, most of us who are sensitive to gluten, are also sensitive to the avenin in oats.

If you're having secretory D, (which is the high-volume form often associated with MC), fasting will not stop it, because your intestinal walls will continue to "inject" electrolytes and water into your intestines, until no more are available. At that point you would be in a life-threatening state of dehydration. That said, not eating will probably slow it down some, but be sure to drink plenty of water, and replace the electrolytes that are being lost.

With any luck at all, the reaction should be mostly over by Monday, but it might be a good idea to stick with BRAT foods until then, to help the gut to settle down. It might be better to stop using the Imodium, and allow your system to purge, as it sees fit, (in order to get any allergenic toxins out of your system ASAP). Then, if your system is still in "purge mode" on Monday, the Imodium might work better.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
