Back again
Hi everyone, Im back again. I had been doing pretty well, but the past few days have been not so good.
Still GF and as far as I can tell I have not ingested any gluten. No D yet, just a feeling in my belly like I am nervous all the time. Have had some random pain about my belly, back and ribs, same thing I had about a year ago. No nausea or gas which is surprising.
Very frustrated with this after feeling pretty good for a while, now it seems I have had a set back, guess I am not as healed as I thought I was.
Not sure what the cause is this time, guess its back to the basics of my diet to see if things get better.
Good to see all the old timers and some new ones also.
Hope all is well with everyone. Just wondering how many times I am going to have to go through this.
Blessing,
Randy

any symptom (grumbles, discomfort, gas, fatigue, joint aches) is your body telling you that you are ingesting something it doesnt like
when i was figuring out my eating plan via elmination diet, i eliminated gluten 100%, 3 weeks later felt awesome, minimal symptoms and then *bam* symptoms, so i elimated yeast, couple of weeks later felt great, week or so after that *bam* symptoms, so then I elminated Dairy same pattern again and then i elminated soy
you could be reacting to a new irritant?
also - check the products you buy as I have had minor set backs when manufacturers change their ingredients
I frequently think that just as i have this MC thing figured out it always sneaks up and takes me by surprise again....
take care

Hi Randy!
That old MC roller coaster is the pits, isn't it? Sorry to hear about your symptoms and hoping that they may be already settling down.
I agree with Gabes - usually a flare indicates that we are eating something we shouldn't - either gluten or else a new sensitivity rearing its ugly head.
Also, how about stress? I firmly believe that stress alone can cause a flare, too.
I hope all is better soon. And going back to diet basics is always a good plan.
Keep us posted, please,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Thanks for the advice and encouragement.
Friday was a bad day, but on Friday night the pain subsided, still no D.
Saturday I ate my normal diet and everything seemed to be ok, Sunday was ok also.
Now I just have some pain in my belly, not really pain, more like that tight nervousness, or maybe when you do sit ups and it feels like muscle fatigue. I have some on and off pain again around the bottom of my ribs and a little pain my back. If I take a tylenol it seems to help.
I am not sure when to go see my doc again or just try to figure it out myself. The last time I went to the doc with these kind of symptoms they did some scans and found nothing, thats when I decided to go GF and it seemed to fix the problems. As you say I am thinking it might be another sensitivity since I have been GF for a while now, something else is getting me.
Ahh stress, seems to be the normal of my life. It was funny I went on a trip to San Francisco with my wife a couple of months ago and I was fine for the entire trip, no problems at all, so it very well could be stress again. I was diagnosed General Anxiety Disorder last year and I noticed I am starting to see some of the same patterns as when I was diagnosed.
What a mess I am sometimes. I am thinking a life change might be in order, I feel like I am making myself sick with worry and anxiety.
Thanks again, going to try and eliminate things from my diet again and work on the anxiety again.
Blessings,
Randy

I'm pretty sure that stress can cause symptoms of that sort. On another note - did your doctors ever check for H. pylori?

that is why i thought i would mention it, as it could explain some of the reactions people have been having even though they have not changed their ingredients or eating plan.
if it does have gluten and/or lactose then the amount per tablet will still be quite low, but if you have been taking them regularly for while then maybe the level has got high enough to cause your body to react.
in my case i can tolerate small amounts of dairy so lactose is ok. given my reactions to gluten and soy i am not willing to take any product unless i can prove 100% that it is gluten and soy free.
I am trying to remember where i saw the info about the generics containing gluten, it may have been the aussie coeliac society web site.
one of the reasons that generics are cheaper is that they use fillers and stabilisers that are cheaper.....

The inactive ingredients of Equate brand loratadine are:
Lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, povidone, pregelatinized starch.
For Equate brand pseudephedrine, the inactive ingredients are:
Carnauba Wax, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Hypromellose, Magnesium Stearate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Polyethylene Glycol, Polysorbate 80, Titanium Dioxide.
Most of those ingredients shouldn't be a problem for most of us. The lactose monohydrate might be. Since it's the first ingredient on the list, that means that there's a lot of it in there, (depending on how large the tablets are).
Be aware, though, as Gabes points out, these website ingredient listings aren't always updated when changes are made to a product. The safest procedure is to always to check the label on the product.

I thought it might be my pancreas but I don't have any symptoms other than the abdomen issue and pain in the back. No gas, D, my bm are normal. I am still hungry and eating three meals a day. There was a stomach virus going around here so I am wondering if that might have cause me some problems and it just taking me longer to heal up from it.
I never know. Probably stress and I need to CHILL!!
Thanks again you all.

Hmmmmm. That's probably because an H. pylori infection is not easy to detect, so he didn't want to have to go through the process of trying to diagnose it, or rule it out. Did you by any chance have a test for occult blood in the stool? That's certainly not a definitive test, but a positive result would justify further testing.Randy wrote:Tex- no he didn't check me for that. I asked for it and got the look like I didn't know what I was talking about.
Yep, it's certainly possible that those symptoms could be left over from a virus.

in australia most of the medications do not have ingredient list on the packaging, the information is contained on the info sheet INSIDE the packaging, and the packaging is sealed.
quite a few do have wording printed on the packaging 'gluten free' or 'gluten and lactose free'
reactions to soy are not as common as gluten and lactose, so quite often it is hard to determine if there is soy.
the information sheets for all meds are avialable on the net, 90% of hte time i can confirm it for myself, in some cases my pharmacist has had to look up the technical information sheets (which are not available on the web for public viewing)
My local pharmacy has quite a few people with serious intolerances, so the owner/pharmacist is very pro-active about double checking inactive ingredients in meds
with all the work that i am doing diet wise to be symptom free, to pay a bit extra for medications that i know are safe is worth it.
