Tex said "If it weren't for the ringing in my ears, it would be deathly quiet, out in the countryside.".............. I know how that feels. Sometimes I wonder if the ringing went away if I'd think I was deaf.

That is a spectacular picture. I can appreciate it and at the same time feel so sad. I remember Texas in my prayers and I hope there will be rain soon.

Thank you for sharing your photograph with us. How awful that Texas is so dry this year. I feel for you and all the people and critters (including insects) and the flora. Will be praying for more rain in your neck of the woods... gentle rains so they can be absorbed.

Been dry here in NM also Tex, bad fires this year. I even lost some of my older trees. No matter how much I water them, they just couldn't stand the heat. I think in July we set a new record for consecutive days over 100 degrees.

Its cooling off here finally, only getting into the 90's but we still haven't got much rain.

Hoping the farmers almanac is correct and winter and spring are suppose to bring some moisture. NOAA on the other hand is predicting 3 to 5 years before we get any relief.

We noticed the same thing - some trees are dying even though we watered them. Apparently, we didn't start soon enough. And as you say, the heat probably has a lot to do with it.

We had a couple more days well over a hundred again over the weekend, but we're back down in the mid-90's now, too. I think we've had 88 days with highs in the triple-digit range this summer, (well, I suppose a couple of them lapsed over into the fall, actually).

Sounds as though I need to pick up a copy of the Old Farmers Almanac - they usually get it right.
