blurry vision

So i have been having blurry vision in only my right eye. It feels like there is a coating or something on it and my vision is just a bit blurry. For some reason or another I feel like Joe has posted about this before? Maybe it's just something else but, just wanted to know if anyone else had this symptom..

Jenny,

I'm not usually an alarmist at all, but - call your doctor. It's probably trivial, but eyes are precious. I have had weird visual effects from MC (something like migraine auras, I think, but I have not had migraines in the past).

I'm not saying to worry or panic, and hopefully it's nothing worrisome.

Hi Jenny,

My nearsightedness has gotten worse lately, so I'm due for a check-up. However, I figure it is just part of the honor of getting older:). I do agree with Sara that you should have your eye checked out, since it seems to be worrisome. Don't remember reading any posts about this topic, so can't help you there.

A couple of days ago when I was in the market, I put on my reading glasses to read a label. I was incredibly distraught to find out that my vision was still blurry even with my glasses on. I actually started to feel a bit panicked, thinking that now I had yet another thing to worry about. When I took my glasses off to clean them, I saw that one of the lenses had popped out

. Can't begin to tell you how relieved I was!!!

Hope you figure out quickly what's going on with your eye, and that it's nothing serious

Jenny I had posted about eye pain that was attributed to uveitis or iritis, both are inflammation of different parts of the eye, and for some reason eye inflammation can be related to IBD's.

I did have blurry vision with iritis but pain was a part of it. I would call your doctor right away

Don't have blurry vision, but my eyes burn and ache occasionally. I have rocesea so that give me some problems with my eyes sometimes also.

Thinking blurry on one side is a doctor visit.

Jenny, in the months leading up to my major MC flare, I began having ocular migraines, which are characterized by an arc of kaleidoscopic looking stuff across the field of vision. The first time it happened, I was freaking out, thinking I was having a stroke, and went straight to the eye doc. If that's what you're experiencing, my eye doc told me, if you can see it when you close one eye and then the other, it's probably ocular migraine. If it's only one eye, get to the doctor, suspecting a retina issue. Also, the ocular migraine lasted maybe 30-40 minutes, and left me with very fatigued eyes for an hour or two after. It happened in very specific circumstances: under fluorescent lights at the end of a stressful school day, or as a result of reflected sun glare.

I did have frequent migraines in my 20-30s that I believe were hormonal, but those were different from the ocular ones.

in any case, Sara is right; eyes are precious, so best to check with your eye doc.

Please call your PCP, optometrist, or opthamalogist tomorrow! This probably isn't the issue in your case since only one eye is affected. The optometrist visit after I got my MC under control, doc said wow your close vision (requiring bifocals) is improved. I told him I had gotten my MC under control & some individuals had noticed an increase in muscle tone as a result. He told me there about 6 or 7 muscles in the eye. He gave me the exact number. I cant remember how many, lol.

OMG! I have been having this. Had it for the first time a couple of years ago. Sun glare when I am driving, lights in a mirror cause it to happen. It's happened more times recently. I would NEVER have connected it to MC or IBD.

I have been to an eye doc. Nothing wrong visible.

Phew! Once again I know I am not alone!

Suze and Lesley - ditto on the aura (ocular) migraines. The first time it happened to me, it was very frightening, so I was very relieved to find out what it was. However, it's still quite an unpleasant experience when it happens, and it usually lasts for better than half an hour. It seems to occur in response to unusual lighting conditions, that create a lot of stimulation to the eyes. If you ever see a woman walking around in a mall with sunglasses on, that would be me :). It helps dim the glare from the bright lights.

The first time was scary. After that I knew what it was, and wait for it to pass. What I DIDN'T know was that it could be connected to MC, and that I would find it on this board.

Suze, Lesley, and Kari,

I had a few of those a couple of years ago. I only had the scintillating light displays - no headache followed. Another name for this is an acephalgic migraine, meaning an aura without the headache. I tracked mine down to eating some corn chips that contained MSG. After I started avoiding all MSG, I never had any more auras.

I am also one who had a keriatitis, it mystified optomologists for weeks as the standard treatment of steroid drops didnt work (which is rare), i had to wear my sunnies to watch tv (kari i know what you are talking about) and had reduced ability to gauge distance so could not drive for about 4 weeks.

it happened about 2 years before my MC was diagnosed.
I had the keriatitis, fatigue, and D. Blood tests also confirmed that i was not producing cortisol when my body was stressed.

it was all a weird mystery at the time, i saw 4 different medical professionals over the period of a month. The immunologist that had the task of 'figuring it out' said his only answer was that i must have had contact with bat urine, when i was travelling for work to Papua New Guinea, as that was the only possible solution for the myriad of symptoms i was having.

2 years later, i had the MC diagnosis and then found this forum and learnt about the whole of body symptoms majority of MC'ers have, I am 98% certain that event was MC 'kicking in'

I don't necessarily believe that the visual disturbance is MC-related. It definitely had to do with unusually glare-y conditions.
Kari, I recently attended a wedding at which the DJ insisted on using strobe lights. All the women my age were running out of the room, covering their eyes. Guess there are lots of us who don't respond well to visual upset.
