just a simple thing to share on the way the healing

Post by harma »

Lately I realized that one of the MC symptoms really has improved in time, the fatigue. I notice I am less tired than when it all started or for example compared with a year ago. My energy level is higher, physical condition is better (and not because I have been working out more in the gym, it's the opposite, since I left NL last year, my exercise routine has been really bad). Last week I started a new habit, every morning right after getting up, clothes on, shoes on, glass of water and a banana and off for my 30 minute walk. I love it, such a great start of my day.

And also mentally less tired too. It's amazing how this recovery goes, suddenly one morning looking back you realize things are different, better.

Harma,
That is so nice to hear. What better way is there to start the day than a brisk walk.

Isnt it wonderful to look *back* to see how far U have come----
Be proud of your venture-----
Funny U should post this---cus Lou stated starting tomorrow ***I*** I am going to join him while he walks in the nice brisk air---
I did that waaaaaaaaaaay back than laziness (which can be my best friend) dropped in and there went my vim and vigor---

Harma,

There is something magical about being "up and out" - at whatever level works for us. Mornings are magic for starting the day. And tonight, I ended my day sitting out in my garden, watching the sky darken till suddenly the stars appeared. There are so many ways of being "in life" and they change for each of us, from season to season, from morning to night. I'm going to make a point to get up and out early with my husband and the dog tomorrow (oops, better head to bed soon!)...

So glad to hear you are getting stronger,

Sara

thanks for the replies, gabes the selling of the house is quiet, it's seems it is not the best time to sell a house, but I have confidence, it's a type of house on a location, good or bad market it almost always sells. But the time they're sold within two weeks are gone (as it was like until 2007).

I like that observation of you Sarah sitting outside and suddenly seeing the stars, it are always those small unexpected things that can so really touch us.

Still doing every morning my walk. I am sure many (mostly - only men) have noticed my routine. A lot of working in Amman is sitting in front of your business watching the world go by.

Am I proud of you Harma. I too have been trying to walk when I get home at night but do not always succeed.

I am still doing it, in my second week now, I discovered if I push myself to longer rounds, put more slope in it (Amman is build on hills) it works against me. I don't like it anymore and that is how it works with me if I don't like it anymore I don't do it anymore. So my advice to anyone here if you want to exercise, design something you like. For me 30 minutes every morning works. No shorter, no longer and not to much slopes. It seems that lower goals give me more results in the long run.

I have been to a gym here, but I just hate those places, especially the machines. I know it is good for me and my bones, but I also know I will do it for a week or two three and than just don't do it anymore. So I saved the money and walk outside now. But project number 2 is to find a routine in my day too, to do a 20 minute routine with some yoga/stretching and muscle strengthening exercise (because when I was at the gym, a curves, I was shocked by my low muscle strength and physical condition, kind of wake up call, on the other hand how surprising my weight was excellent as my fat percentage of 24%)

Harma,
I think you really have to do what you like to keep it up. I have been going to a gym for about 25 years now and it's like second nature. I don't love it, but feel better when I'm finished. I have tried some of the classes, like step, T'ai Chi and didn't care for them so ended out dropping out. Walking outside is what I like best, so as long as the weather is good, I do the gym and do my walking outside and not on the treadmill. On Sat. we went for a 14 mile bicycle ride and today a nice long walk in a great wooded area that's been cleared for hiking. On most days I only do a 30-40 minute walk also, but I do it every day. I am just happy that right now I feel good enough to really enjoy the walk.

It does sound like you have settled in and so interesting to hear about you life there.

Sara, that's the best, sitting outside till the stars come out. I love doing that on my porch at night.

I used to love to walk, but my back is getting worse, my leg feels like it weighs 2 tons, and it's difficult to move it. But I am lucky to have access to a pool in our complex. As long as I manage to get into it I can walk, run, jump, swim and do all the things I can't do on land. I use many toys to increase resistance, and feel SO much better after.
I wish i could still walk, especially not that winter is coming on, but intend to force myself to keep this up because it helps SO much!

I am SO exhausted all the time with the struggle with MC. I am glad I have a release.

Harma,

That sounds like a wonderful way to start your day - good for you that you figured this out. I have always loved mornings the best, and usually get up before the sun. I like the peace and tranquility of early morning, and easing my way into a new day. When I was working full time and had to get out of the house by 7:30 AM, I would routinely get up between 4:30 and 5:00 AM to feel the luxury of plenty of time, avoiding the hysteria that usually comes along with having to rush.

Love,
Kari

today again I realized how the fatigue thing really is improving. Not that I was always tired in the last two years, but so often out of nothing I could so overwhelm me. And even more mentally tired than physical.
