update on my hand

Post by barbaranoela »

as u all know --2 weeks ago I fell --AFTER leaving my doctors office---but L. and I went about our day---which is when the pain kinda increased so we stopped at NYACK Hospital---had Xrays and they showed a *BREAK*
So off we went to our bone doctor(cant think of proper name for them) and he looked at the hospitals XRAY and said --NO break just bruised--OK--so 4 -2 weeks now I have been wearing a brace and on and on----annoying to sleep with--etc.-and me doing things around the house--cus I am a clean nut case----

Yesterday we went back for a check-up --to my bone doctor--his nurse decided to retake X-rays (ok with me) and then I hear her say- Barbara~~~ U HAVE A BREAK --xxxxxx;;;;;;'''''''xxxxx thats what I said to myself---
Doc. came in---apologized for his *sorta mistake* ---so now tis another several weeks to wear this brace---

By now it isnt as bothersome---- and I really dont mind cus MR. LOUIE has been doing the cooking  --could I ask for more than that!!!!

But, I am really upset due to the fact --that I could have REALLY caused major issues thinking it was just a SPRAIN---

Such is life--

Trust everyone is staying on that *healthy road*

much luve and

Wow! You would think that by now, orthopedic specialists would know how to read x-rays, and properly diagnose a break in a bone.

At least his nurse is on the ball.

Apparently, gastroenterologists don't have the market cornered on incompetent practices, after all.

I hope it heals pretty soon.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Barbara,

Glad you're (finally!) properly diagnosed. I had an 'ambiguous' wrist break a few years back, and when the 2nd doc got it right, she kind of yelled at me for not wearing the brace enough. (How did she know - hidden cameras at my house??) But I had been told "probably not broken" - and that was before I knew to be suspicious of everything I heard from an M.D.

Here's wishing you speedy healing from here on in - and not too much annoyance from wearing the brace at night (I hated that, too!) - and how wonderful that you've got the master chef in charge of keeping you well fed.

Love,
Sara

Boy, it seems we have to question every doctor's diagnosis. I'm glad the nurse was smart enough to x-ray it again and see the break.

I hope it repairs itself quickly.
