Hi Leslie,

I can eat turkey, pork and lamb. I also eat broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus, but I think one or more may be giving some problems. I'm testing Brussels sprouts as a replacement for broccoli, which I've given up in the past. I can eat corn as flour, chips, cornstarch, and noodles, almonds as almond milk and flour, but I'm suspicious of almond butter. I also use arrowroot and baking powder for baking. I eat avocado, though I probably shouldn't because it's high in histamines - but it doesn't seem to bother me.

You can see a list of my menus here: http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13468

Since I posted that list, I've given up rice, quinoa, ghee and coconut, so I've modified the menu list a bit. I'm still able to make muffins, waffles, pancakes and tortillas using almond, arrowroot, corn flour and cornstarch. I haven't noticed any difference in taste or consistency. I'm not able to make bread anymore, so I eat soup every turkey day. I eat Corn Chex for breakfast on my lamb and pork days since giving up rice.

Overall, I've learned to tolerate little variety in my meals, but I do miss not being able to snack on fruits, nuts, and other foods. I used to eat muffins as a snack, but now I eat one with my dinner to make up for the missing quinoa and rice.

Dear Lesley,
I understand that it is easier said than done, but "calm" is your first defense against this very overwhelming disease. I can share that I felt like a prisoner in my own home for 6 months. I could put just water in me and out it came. Everything I put in my mouth was out within 20 minutes. I lost count of how many times I had to leave the table during a meal to run to the bathroom. But, my PCP told me, even if I had the diarrhea to still eat because I would still get some of the needed nutrients.
You have to understand that you are dealing with inflammation and that inflammation didn't happen overnight. And it's like everything in your tummy and colon is angry!
So, now my suggestion is to consider taking the Entocort EC to get that inflammation down. Then you can fine tune your diet. I did a search for you on the alldaychemist.com website. For 90 pills the cost would be $40.50. That would be your initial starting dose of 3-3mgs in the morning. So, multiply that total by 3 = $121.50 and add the standard shipping and that's what you'd pay for a 3 month supply.
I did pick up on that you take Effexor XR. So do I. If you don't mind me asking, what milligram are you on and trying to wean off of. The reason that I am asking is because Effexor is hellish to get off of and can cause some awful side effects. I'm just trying to fit in some of the puzzle pieces so I can jump on your journey with others to help you get some relief.

Thanks Gloria.

And thanks so much Dee for the detailed answer. I know it's hell to get off Effexor after years on it. You can ask whatever you want. What secrets would I have after having shared details of my BMs with all of you? {-:?
I have been taking 150 mgs. I have tablets that I cut into quarters, and am now taking half. I have lots of other meds to get off, believe me. All will give me trouble, but I am hoping not more than the prednisone. The pain from getting off that is still ongoing.
I am not sure I can get off Effexor OR nortryptiline after so many years. Maybe it will be impossible, since my brain needs the neurotransmitters, and won't take kindly to them being reduced.
In fact, maybe trying to reduce them now is a bad idea? Maybe that is also causing the D?
I have been on meds for years. I would get ill, be given some meds, which had side effects, and get meds for the side effects and so on ad infinitum.
Now that the dx has been made I need to get off as much as I can IF I can do so safely, so I can heal from the damage it has done.

Getting some nutrients into me was why I was doing juicing. I was removing the fiber from F&V and drinking the nutrients, and the truth is that though I had days of C and had to induce the BM, which was always mucous, I did feel better when eating more variety. But then I would have an attack that even Norco wouldn't stop, like now, and I have figure out what's happening and to try to get to remission.

That price is exactly what Tex told me it would be. I will order them tomorrow, hoping they will help me move forward through this.
LOL! My doc, when I told him about the entocort said it wouldn't help because if I have D&C alternating I must have IBS, not MC. And this after doing the biopsy, and being enormously pleased with himself for dx'ing it. What can I do? A neanderthal is what, I think, Sara called him!

Thanks again!

OK I have given in and ordered entocort. I can't take much more of this. I have to get it under control. I need an antacid so badly, and I am NOT taking one. It's really, really bad. And the C right now is pushing me over the edge.

I have gurgling also, and bran fog, aching joints and I am SO tired I cannot get my body to go, let alone past it.

I wish I had a supply to send you, because it will probably take close to 3 weeks for that shipment to arrive, depending on how long it sits in Customs before they approve it and send it on.

I am hoping I am miraculously better by then. And won't have to use them. Then I can send them on to someone who does. Hope springs eternal.
