I started the elimination diet 2 days ago, and now, on day 3 I am having a full blown attack - not stop D. Looking for my imodium, put away because of my tendency to D&C alternation. This time it's like the very beginning of this. EVERYTHING is coming out. What caused this? I don't know. I have cut out rather than adding.
It's worse than when I was drinking fresh fruit juices. Feeling horrible.
Going on a kitchen rampage and running EVERYTHING through the DW again to get rid of any possible remnants gluten or casien.
Should I take meds? No? What next?
Start over....

IMO, the antidepressants that you are taking are causing C, which eventually cycles to D. It may be impossible to completely stop that cycle, as long as you are taking the drug/s, (assuming that the C is indeed caused by a drug or drugs).
Entocort might stop the D, but it will almost surely make the C worse.
It's difficult to control the symptoms of drug-induced issues, when discontinuing the drug is not an option. We've had other members in that situation. One, for example, had severe D problems, which were always much worse after her monthly anti-TNF treatment, but she didn't feel that she could give up the drug, because of psoriatic arthritis, so she continues to live with unrelenting D.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I think it's the Norco causing the C, and I can't do without that completely. Unfortunately. Too much pain.
I am decreasing the anti depressants daily and hope to get off them ASAP. It'll take time, but as you already might have guessed, it takes me time to decide to get rid of everything, but when I decide I, by George, I will do it.
I hope that although I have to take SOME Norco for pain, and therefore will be subject to C as I have been most of my life, I can heal my gut enough that the D won't be as horrible as it is now once I get off the rest of my meds. It's not going to be easy, but getting off prednisone was not easy, and still isn't. I am still in horrible pain, but I have a high pain threshold, and am willing to put up with it while I heal my gut.

Lesley, there are things that washing will not work for getting rid of gluten. Gluten has turned many of us into gluten sleuths. Things like wood (spoons, cutting boards, rolling pins), cast iron (pans, baking tins), and other porous things like pizza stones become impregnated with gluten. Some plastics do, too. Much of the time we find ourselves basically just throwing out the old and buying new.
Also, consider appliances like the toaster. It is probably possible to clean a toaster oven, if you don't have someone who is toasting gluten products in it continually, but a pop-up toaster is virtually impossible to clean free of gluten. Then there's the waffle iron...
Best of luck to you on your kitchen rampage!
