I find garlic salt to be too salty, so I just use minced garlic and add my own salt if I think the dish needs salt too. Neither garlic nor salt seem to cause me problems.

Karan. I am on THE diet - only rice, turkey, chicken and potatoes. That's why I asked about the garlic.

Lesley,

I never stopped using garlic salt, (except for a short part of the time when I was on a very restrictive diet). I found that it didn't bother me, even when most other seasonings did. It's still my favorite seasoning, especially for things such as baked potatoes, and pork, (which have always been staples in my diet).

Some members have problems with garlic, though, I believe.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I am still eating only chicken, turkey, rice and potatoes. NO veg.
And lifesavers to try to help my GERD, which is really horrible.

Morning Lesley,

I have never found garlic salt to be a problem but did have problems in the beginning with minced garlic. I know it is not fun to have such a restricted diet but I see no reason why you cannot add in some vegetables such as carrots, beets and possibly parsnips. They are not hard on the system - I should say not hard for me - and if they are roasted they are so sweet that they just might satisfy you. A more expanded diet will come.

I am an overuser of herbs and spices, and they don't bother me at all, so long as they are not spicy. I cannot eat "plain" food, so I load things up with sea salt, garlic powder, italian seasonings, Old Bay (my absolute fav), poultry seasoning, cumin, chili powder, etc. I use McCormick brand whenever possible because they assure us it is GF. I just limit the black pepper and hot peppers.

Lesley I found early on that I did better going easy on seasonings, but did tolerate modest amounts. Its been about 18 months now and I am finding that I can use standard seasonings (not spicy) just fine. I always used garlic or garlic salt in moderation with no issues

Thanks everybody.

Joe, I always use seasonings in moderation. And I haven't been able to eat spicy for years.

If this diet was helping I wouldn't mind so much, but it's not.

Today I should get my enterolab results. I will, most definitely, let you all know what I find out.
