Love the new tagline!

Post by draperygoddess »

Tex,

Just noticed the new tagline for the forum, and I love it! Isn't that what most of us want to know when we find the PP? We're sick, exhausted, misunderstood and discouraged, and we wonder, "Will life ever be normal for me again?" Thanks for the resounding "Yes!"

Cynthia,

I can't take credit for that - it was Gabby's idea.

Thanks for your thoughts on it.

That's wonderful.

Every time someone on this forum says that to someone, it makes a difference to me.

Thanks for pointing that out, Cynthia. Also, thanks to Tex for adding the tag line and to Gabes for recommending it. Great idea!

 It looks great Tex!

You could put it in quotes and put your name after it. It is your mantra after all. And a good one.

Well, I recall last winter, in one of my first posts, saying that I just wanted my life back. And when I read posts from folks who are new to the site, they almost always say the same thing.

I am very happy to say that, 11 months in, I'm feeling like the tagline is true, and I encourage people who are confused and frustrated, as I was when I first found this group, to hang in. I thought I might share what I've done to feel like I'm regaining control over the LC that had me so sick last winter. For me, to feel that control again was so important. My caveat is that this is what worked for ME, not a formula for success. And, another caveat, I do not seem to be highly reactive if I mistakenly encounter gluten or dairy, which I know others are. But I do feel it in terms of joint aches, fatigue, and D, though not as bad as before.

I have been GF and DF since the spring, after struggling with the idea for a couple of months, and testing gluten and dairy with disastrous results. Luckily for me, my GI doc was vey emphatic about the need to be free of both, and I
finally gave in. I did use Entocort, and am now taking 3mg every other day. I stopped all NSAIDS, an SSRI, and Fosamax. I switched my probiotic to the
Renew Life Senior formula. I switched my vitamins to Freeda. Particularly since I switched from Celexa to another anti-depressant, and switched up the probiotic, I have had very good results in terms of a normal digestive life. By normal, I don't mean "perfect"--and I am very content with that. This year, I have had my son's wedding (no flare) and the death of my mother (fairly bad flare). I have traveled by plane, car and train in the last six months and
been OK.

So I guess the message is that I am optimistic, and I would encourage others who are struggling to hang in and find their way to their new normal. You can get your life back, but I am pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten it back this soon without the knowledge found in this group.

with no problem. I'm not averse to using Immodium if I need reassurance. I have eaten in restaurants and at other events, with no problem.

Whoops, something happened that I wasn't able to edit, and the last fragment obviously belongs to the next to last paragraph. Sorry about that.
