I drink an 8 oz. glass of water with each meal and try to drink an additional glass in the morning, afternoon and evening.

You know, the native Americans never drank water with their meals, because it dilutes stomach acid, and slows down digestion. I'm pretty sure that paleo hunter/gatherers probably followed that same practice.

Yes, I'm also in the habit of drinking water, (or tea, or whatever), with meals, especially in the summer when it's not easy to drink enough water to keep up with needs, but I find that when I keep it to a minimal amount, digestion goes much faster, and much more smoothly. If I drink a lot of water or tea with a meal, it seems to take forever for my stomach to finish the job, and I feel bloated/overfull for hours. I also find that if I drink a lot of water with a meal, I tend to eat less, because I feel too full, too soon.

Therefore, I would assume that drinking water with a meal, will lead to calorie reduction, because it will bring a feeling of satiety, sooner - an important consideration for anyone trying to gain or lose weight.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I was brought up to never drink water with meals. That changed over time.
However, for breakfast, I usually drink my tea with whatever I have to eat.

I find eating is really more comfortable without drinking water. Except for breakfast as I said.
