Generic Entocort?
I have a bottle of Entocort at home and I noticed it was a generic form. Since when did Entocort become generic? And, as we all well know, generic does not have to be the "same" as the original. So does anyone have any experience with the generic? Good? Bad? I looked up and found that two manufacturers make the generic kind. Par Pharmacy and ? I have the Par. Do you think the generics are okay or should I request the original? (Not that I am going to take it; I am going to try and use Imodium and diet first).

there are quite a view member who order the Entocort oversees, because it is a lot cheaper and assume this is also a generic version, as far as I know this works as well as the far overprized original one.
I also use a sort of generic one, it is not entocort but called budenofalk (think it's a name only used in holland), the active compound is exactly the same, only it becomes a bit further active in the colon than entocort (at least this is what my GI told me and because MC is disease of the colon, his idea was budenofalk was the best choice). Budenofalk is bit cheaper than entocort, but the difference is only 10 Euro per 90 pills. And how strangely entocort is in Europe 10 times cheaper than in the US, in the Netherlands you pay for 90 pills about 120 euros.

Mandy,
The patent on Entocort EC expired on May 15th of this year, as I recall. You can relax, the version that you have is actually an "authorized generic," meaning that it's the actual brand-name medication which is simply repackaged and sold under a generic name. It's exactly the same as Entocort EC in every way, and it's even made by AstraZeneca). The only difference between it and the original Entocort EC, is that it comes in a bottle with a generic name.
The other manufacturer of the domestic generic alternative is Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Unfortunately, the domestic generics are only slightly less expensive than the original, (IOW, they're still ridiculously overpriced).
The only affordable, (and just as effective), budesonide available to U. S. citizens, is called Budez CR, and it has to be ordered from:

I have been using generic budesinide for months without a problem. My insurance company accidentally approved my first prescription and I had one bottle of "real" Entocort before they realized their mistake and wanted to charge me more than $800 co-pay for the refill. I get my budesinide through a Canadian pharmacy at a reasonable price, especially since I take only one pill a day most days. I trust this pharmacy because I've used them for more than 15 years without any problem.

The cost of generic Entocort, (just like the branded product), depends on the pharmacy that you are dealing with. The copay depends on your insurance, of course. You got a good deal, and no, that copay wasn't a mistake. Check this thread:
