A week without Imodium

Post by desertrat »

It has been exactly a week without Imodium. In this past week my BM's are in the morning, maybe once or twice and that's it for the day. Always firm, usually in large pebbles, almost like playdough. (Sorry, TMI, I know!) What the heck is going on? Is this healing? Or am I going the constipation route? I haven't been as strict on my diet, I've snuck in a few Hershey kisses and other things to see if I react, which if I did, I didn't notice. I am still GF (that I know of), but for sure have slipped occasionally on dairy and soy. Examining my food dairy, the only thing I've added in quantity has been corn chips, hummus and a daily tylenol. Would any of these things have changed my stools? I so do NOT want to go to the C side. But, then, again, maybe this is healing?

Hey! Hey! Here I am, trying to eat lunch, and I come across a graphic description about someone's bathroom experiences. I reckon that's one of the hazards of taking a chance on reading posts, while eating.

Seriously, though, you're not taking Entocort - are you? If that's the case, then you seem to be doing fine. Maybe gluten is your only food issue.

As far as the foods that you've added, are concerned, while the hummus, and possibly even the corn might have affected your BM characteristics, they would tend to lean toward causing D, (if anything), and would be very unlikely to tilt the balance toward C, IMO.

Sorry Tex, maybe I should have put a P (poop) graphic rating on my post. You know, like they do for movies? LOL No, I haven't taken any Entocort, just the Imodium. I am very surprised at how long I have gone without needing it. I wish I knew what a normal norman is suppose to be like for a MC person. Is it suppose to be like what you had before MC? That's the rub. Am I switching over to C? Or could this be the beginning of healing? What are the odds of having WD for only two weeks, then having their BM turn firm without much help from meds? I know diet helps, but really, this fast?

Yes, but remember, some of us had early signs of something brewing, long before the MC actually presented, so some of us may have never been "normal".

Well, for some of us, with alternating D and C, (such as me), that cycle repeated over and over, many, many times, before I finally got control of the situation.

Some people have made even more surprising turnarounds. We're all different. If you happen to be luckier than most of us, we won't hold it against you.

Time will tell. Rome wasn't built in a day, and MC isn't controlled in a couple of weeks. Any positive sign, though, should be viewed as progress, even it it's just a coincidence - never look a gift horse in the mouth. We have to learn to be optimistic, and self-confident in our ability to control the disease, while never letting our guard down, (just in case).

I just hit this one too while eating lunch. However, from one who analyzes BMs and has been with this disease for years, nothing bothers me now.
