B12 lozenges with Sorbitol

Post by jmayk8 »

Isn't sorbitol supposed to be bad for MC? For some reason I thought it was...my B12 lozenges contain it and since my recent flair I started to avoid them but thinking I need to start taking B12 again and not sure what to do?
Thanks!
Jenny :)

Hi Jenny,

I don't believe that sorbitol can cause MC, but it can definitely cause D for almost anyone, (it does for me, if I eat a significant amount of it). Sorbitol is found in fruit such as apples, pears, and peaches, and it's the "magic" ingredient in prunes, that has earned them recognition as a laxative.

The small amount in the sublingual B-12 lozenges that I used never seemed to bother me, though.

Hmmm, I was just wondering the same thing. I take Wellgenix sublingual B12 (B6 and folic acid). The base has sorbitol listed as the first ingredient. I don't know if it is what is making me sick or not. Does anyone use or know of another safe kind without it?

Here's a liquid form, but it contains citric acid:
