Terrible night!

Post by Lesley »

I went to bed last night (after feeding Adam with what I have in the house - steak, potatoes, veggies and my coconut lemon ice cream). I lay down and was lying quietly when suddenly I couldn't breath and my chest hurt, RUQ, under my breast, front through back.

I've had this before. I KNOW it's not my heart, but I called Adam to bring me aspirin anyway, JIC. He was over in 3 minutes and stayed with me till I fell asleep. I have a wonderful son!

But I am SO sure this is MC, my gut, and C acting up, though I did have a BM 3 days ago. GERD isn't helping.

I am SO tired today. I wanted to go to the pool, but just couldn't drag myself there. I know, if I went, I would be more exhausted so I didn't today.

He's a treasure. The best son in the world.

It is weird, this illness. It shows up in the strangest ways.

My worst pain is right upper quadrant, under the rib, gall bladder area. Biopsy showed massive duodenal lymphocyte infiltration. I have gastroparesis type symptoms and am pretty worried about motility. I have seen some reports of lymphocytic inflammation destroying the nerves in the intestine leading to an agonising demise. I've got dysphagia and upper GI dysmotility too. The right-sided pain is so difficult to control. Food makes it worse.

Best of luck

Lesley,

I had chest pain under my left breast several times. The first couple of times I went to ER, but testing could find nothing wrong, so I stopped going to ER. It always went away after about 15 minutes. I haven't had any pain since I've stopped eating high histamine foods. I never connected it to what I was eating until I read that chest pains are one of they symptoms of mast cell problems. I don't know if you have a mast cell problem, but it might be something to investigate.

Hey Gloria,

My pain doesn't go away in 15 minutes. It had been going on for an hour by the time I called Adam.

I had a blood test for mast cells, but I haven't heard from the doctor. How long does it take to get results?

Sorry to hear about that Lesley but I understand what you were going through. Used to have the same thing and now only every now and then. Scary since I have a heart condition but determined it was just the ugly head of MC rearing itself. Hope things go better going forward.

Love, Maggie

My husband ended up at the ER a couple of times with severe chest pain and both times it was his esophagus. This was years ago before he ever developed heart problems.

I have had chest pain 3 or 4 times and it really hurts. Once or twice the pain even radiated into my jaw. Mine never lasted as long as yours though. I didn't go to the ER either time but after the first time I had a stress test. Everything was Ok so after that I just endured and waited for the pain to pass. It's very scary when it happens though. It's been several years since the last time.

It seems from the number of posts about it that it's not a rare thing.

I hope you are lots better real soon.

Shirley, it really seems as if it is fairly common among us MC-ers. At least I know others have the same symptoms.

Thanks guys. Really good to have you around when I need help, support and a confirmation.

Hi Lesley,

Hope you feel better. PS. I'm testing some easy blender veggie shake combos that taste good so I hope to have something posted this weekend.

Dear Lesley,

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. Wouldn't it be great to have a magic wand to wave and make it all better? (I can't find a magic wand emoticon; you'll have to use your imagination.)
