Best Parents Ever
I'm now continuing with my GF/DF diet and have added no eggs, soy, or legumes to the list in addition to limiting fruits and veggies. It's very frustrating but I'm starting to work into a routine. My Mom sent me an email this morning saying that she has a turkey thawing for me and will bring it over when it's ready. My husband replied jokingly to not forget the stuffing.
I got a reply that there will be stuffing too but not prepared inside the bird so I can eat it. They gave me an extensive interview at their house this weekend trying to get a grasp on what I can and cannot have. I continue to take home the best meals ever to share with my family but can no longer eat them myself. I get weekly treats which everyone at home enjoys and looks forward to. So now instead of sweets and home cooking which is no longer allowed for me, I am getting a turkey along with nuts and other Deb friendly goodies.
It is comforting to see how much support I truley have even though I often feel quite alone with my issues. This forum has also been a God-send. I do forget how my health effects those close to me whether or not I'm paying attention to it or not. It's so easy to get lost in self-pity.
For now, I'm doing ok with my meat, potatoes, and rice. I'm on my way to getting off prednisone and then will really see where I sit with the D. I'm looking forward to better health, riding my motorcycle this summer, gardening, going to my cabin with my husband, spending time with my son........ you name it, I can't wait. Not too long ago I felt like I was at death's door. Patience has always been one of my life lessons. I'm up for the challenge!

What a great post Deb! You are very lucky to have your family. Support is so important.
I have my son here, and he is terrific. He will do anything to help and support me. It makes all the difference in the world.
And as for this board? I can't say enough about my gratitude to the people here for all their help and support. It's been a lifeline from "death's door" back to the world.
I am glad you are getting better. That's the BEST!
