Deb,

You're right. I've noticed that a high percentage of my references are from 2011. I keep adding them to various chapters, whenever they turn up.

When I get this edition finished, I may need to begin a second edition, a few months later. LOL. MC diagnoses and research are definitely on the upswing.

Tex,
You're tempting me to eat applesauce. Maybe I could tolerate it if I mix glucose powder into it.

Hi Gloria,

FYI, in case these other options might work better, phloretin is also found in apple juice and cider. It's also found in pears and strawberries, so I would assume that it's available in their juices as well.

Thanks, Tex. I can try a small sample first. I'll give it some thought.

I'm having very good results on "an apple a day." I had kind of sporadically eaten an apple prior to Tex's post but not consistently. I bought a bag of Gala organic apples (contains about 12 small apples) from Publix and I've eaten one a day since this post. I havn't had any other dramatic changes in diet since I started with the apples other than I've also added in the raw organic shortcut carrots that Zizzle talks about. I have 1 apple left so I believe it has been about 10 days. Today was the first time I've ever had 1 bm for the day and fairly close to a norman! I've been eating apple-- skin and all --and the apples that I got are on the smaller size, i.e. I think marketed to Mom's of grade school kids. This is obviously not for someone in a flare but for someone who has been in healing mode for awhile. I'm also one of the few posters regularly eating lettuce. For the Ga, AL and FL readers the apples tasted good too!

I thought I'd report that I just had day 2 of a normal Norman so I bought another bag of apples to continue with the apple a day regimen. Maybe it is just my time ot heal or Connie's L Glutamine regimen may also be helping. Brandy

Wow, with the peel on too?! I'm not ready for peel yet (horrible mini-flare after restaurant cross-contamination last weekend), but I brought 5 apples to work for this week!

Brandy,

You may be on the right track. There is evidence that most of the flavonoids in apples, (at least in the apple variety in the report at the link blow), are in the skin/peel:
