Joe is still doing research on the histamine stuff as some of the meds available in the USA are not availble for me in Aus.

Joe came across this article and given your Gerd issues i thought you might be interested.
H2 antagonist to help with histamine release, they are often used for the reduction of acid in the stomach. Here is a good article about he various acid reducers, but there is a good description about how H2 antagonist work.

http://www.australianprescriber.com/magazine/23/3/57/9/

About half way down is the section about H2 antagonist, but the whole article is pretty good.
I was having drowsiness issues with the benedryl, the H2 med that joe started last weekend with awesome results, is not available here in Aus, however my pharmacist did recommened Ranitidine
I took a 150mg tablet last night and the improvement is AMAZING.
- today is the first day in months that i could get out of bed when the alarm went off and i awoke with a clear head.
- with the histamine reactions my gerd had returned, today is the first day in months that i havent had gerd as soon as i get out of bed...

if you can find the H1 and H2 histamine meds that you can tolerate, i am pretty confident that alot of your other symptoms will abate....
I have my fingers and toes crossed for you as no-one deserves the symptoms you are enduring.....

Aside from the claritine and now the Ranitidine the only other treatment i have been doing is bowen massage treatment for lymphatic/circulation/reduce inflammation.

Gabes,
That is wonderful news and I am so glad these meds are helping you. Isn't it wonderful to just feel good? Hopefully, Leslie you will also get some relief. You have been suffering far too long.

Gabes - Thank you for that my friend.

The first blood test showed no histamine reaction, but my doctor has ordered tests which are more in depth. I am taking pepcid, which is an anti histamine, but it hasn't helped.

I KNOW I have allergy issues. My nose is stuffy, I have thick post nasal drip, my eyes are itchy. Zyrtec makes all this a lot better. But not the MC.

I am SO glad you feel better, Gabes. Really, truly!

Nancy, I SO appreciate you!

Nancy,
I can hardly believe the difference, today is the best i have felt for at least 3 months..... mmmmm it would be almost 5 months.
Focus and energy has improved about 250%
the gaggle of symptoms that were making each day a struggle are only about 20% of what they were 3 weeks ago!

Lesley
Joe's research confirmed that you have to have a med to control the H1 reaction and different med for a H2 reaction

if current med(s) are not working for you then it may be worth the effort to try others. In my case, the very noticable difference in 48 hours changing from Benedryl to Rantitine is amazing.....
the different meds have a different way of metobolising so depending on our bodies and how the digestion organs are going, each of us can have different outcomes for the same med.

and like my MC tag line, there is no right way or wrong way, there is your way, It is just a b*gger of a journey figuring out what works!!!

Joe has been super awesome in doing all sourcing of articles, the reading, and then sumarising the various articles for how it relates to me, if you need any help i am sure he will be more than happy to help out.

 thanks Gabes. I will accept his help as offered by you! As I know Joe he probably will.

Given the fuzziness of my head I haven't been able to make head or tail of that article, but I will try to tackle it tomorrow, first thing, when the fuzz is generally penetrable.

I guess I have to start trying different antihistamines.
As you said - a bu**er of a journey. But I can't wait to get there, where ever there is.

Lesley
if you send a PM to Joe, list all diagnosed conditions (not just digestion ones), current medications and their dosage per day and what time of day you are taking them,
and the same for any supplements.

 Gabes!!

When I discovered the histamine thing, I took Zyrtec and Zantec, H1 and H2 blockers. I was able to drop the Zantec, but I get in trouble if I don't take a Zyrtec every day. Kinda funny... my left palm starts to itch, and I remember that I have forgotten to take the Zyrtec.

Gabes, that is good news and in the scheme of things it makes sense to use both the H1 and H2 if you have GERD. For my seasonal allergies I have been taking a Claritin everyday and 50 mg Benadryl at night for a few years-- long before I came down with LC-- so I'm staying with that protocol daily now.

Lesley I hope you find a good combination that works for you--- and soon.

Best wishes,
Carol

Reading: I finally understood some of it.
So H1: I need to get Clariten since Zyrtec has lactose (although that's the one that always worked for my respiratory allergies) and for the H2? Ranitidine? I think you can get it here. I hope it's OTC.

Thanks you guys!

I do too, Connie. What would I have done without you all.
