Lectins ??

Post by humbird753 »

I am reading an article called, "The Big Mistake - Gluten." It is interesting in that it parallels a lot of what I have learned here. I don't remember Lectins referred to here, though.

This article speaks a lot about gluten - what it's in, its effects, etc. But they also refer to Lectins. If I understand it correctly, Lectins can come from different foods as they refer to Wheat Lectin as "wheat germ agglutinen."

Has this been mentioned here, or has anyone ever heard of Lectins?

Paula,

If you search the archives, you will find that lectins have been thoroughly hashed out here, numerous times, over the years. The primary lectin in wheat is the alpha gliadin peptide, but there are also other lectins in wheat in the form of other gliadins, and glutenin peptides that are almost as bad for us.
