WOW!! I went to the Gluten Free Expo at the South Florida Fairgrounds this morning and was glad I got there when they opened the doors. It was PACKED within an hour!! I had no idea there were so many people with gluten issues. Got lots and lots of samples including a pizza that actually tasted like real pizza. It is frozen and sold in Whole Foods and probably costs the earth but I think it will be worth it. I also came across a "doctor" who was amazed when I said I had MC. He said that MC is just a form of colitis and an autoimmune issue and he would treat it the same as IBS. I just walked away. No point in arguing. Judging by the number of GF cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc we will have to worry about diabetes, too.
Best of all, on the way home I stopped at the animal shelter and adopted Rosie. She's a short blond with hair issues but adorable and so happy to have a forever home. She's a miniature, long-haired (and wirehaired) dachshund who apparently isn't quite housebroken so I will have to see how that goes. Happiness is a warm puppy.

Glad to read such a wonderful, upbeat post from you. Congratulations on the new addition to your home. I'm a cat lover, and I got a plaque from my niece for Christmas that says "A Home without a Cat is just a House" - guess you would say the same for a dog .
Love,

It sounds as though you had a most productive day.
FWIW, if Rosie's "hair issues" that you referred to are caused by a skin problem, I'll bet a GF cookie that you can resolve them by putting her on a GF diet.

Well, at least he was truthful, because I'll bet that is indeed exactly what he would do.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hey Tex,
Rosie's hair issues are more of a fashion problem than a shedding issue. She looks as if she put her little paw in the light socket. It's kind of a wild, blond hairdo with smooth tan ears, big brown eyes and an adorable very blond beard. I'm going to try to groom her later. She's pooped from such a big day. The housebreaking issue has reared its ugly head. She goes for a lovely walk and then pees immediately upon entering the house. Not so good. I think she's pretty smart and can be trained. There were issues with another dog in her former home so I don't know how this problem came about. It is so nice to have another living being in the house with me, a little pee I can forgive for the time being.

Congratulations on your new puppy!!! I have had small dogs in the past, but now have cats. I love having pets around. They brighten my day, as I am sure yours will. Good luck with the house training issues.

Sheila, you sound GREAT! What a lovely thing to adopt a puppy! Did she come with the name Rosie? Or was that your idea?
My son just adopted a pound dog, and is so happy with him, although he has many issues and is going to have to go to a trainer to help with some of them. He's toilet trained but has obviously been severely abused and needs a lot of help.
My son says he wants to have a living creature around, but wants neither a GF nor kids right now. So I have a granddoggy!
Your response to that horrible doctor - spot on!
I'm glad you can find so many ready made things to eat. Not having to cook is such a treat!
I don't think I could deal with an animal - too much responsibility. I can barely deal with myself.
And we live in small apartments. Adam's little dog is a good size for an apartment, but he needs far more exercise than Adam can give him. I know I couldn't manage that right now.
So I get to see little Lenny and play with him a couple of times a week.
The joys of being a granny!
