I'm going to forward this to all my contacts also. The food industry has gone too far. Eating right should not be affordable only to the wealthy. We pay premium prices for gluten-free products and that extra money could be going to pay fees to the same companies that are messing with our food standards. It angers me too.

I am no proponent of GE/GMO foods, and I am not a fatalist--I don't think we have to put up with them now they are in the food supply. I totally agree with Robyn that we have to do what we can, especially for our own families. But I do have a quibble with some of her statistics. The US may have the highest rate of cancer, but that may be because there are more cases reported here. Other countries may not be so diligent, or have the ability to keep track of them like the US. It's the same with the amount of money spent on medical issues. The US is very rich compared to much of the rest of the world and has some of the finest medical facilities, so naturally we spend more money on medical stuff. As far as money spent by corporations on health insurance, that is a really subjective statistic. Not all companies insure their employees like Starbucks, or other major corporations.

I am not saying that GE/GMO foods don't play a part in the overall decline of health in the US. They definitely do. But I have trouble with using a wholesale statistic like the rate of cancer, or money spend on medicine to prove the point, or how much money major corporations spend on health insurance.

:iagree: All we have to do is look at physicians' annual income, the cost of hospital care, and the cost of drugs, in various countries, to see that those statistics are irrelevant to the topic at hand.

I discuss the etiology of cancer in my book - the evidence is available, and the origin of cancer is clear, if you look at the facts recorded in history.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
