Medication question

Post by GRB »

I just received a notice that my prescription benefit has made an arbitrary (in my view) decision to not cover my DICYCLOMINE (generic for BENTYL) any more. When asked why I was told "Well the ins and pharms make these decisions"...this is healthcare in America....I have a call into my doctor. In any case I was told I could still purchase it 'out of pocket'...of course....

They want me to change to LOPERAMIDE... I don't want to change because I have zero side effects with the DICYCLOMINE and only take it when I have a flair and my stomach hurts etc.

Does anyone here have any experience with LOPERAMIDE?

I believe that's the active ingredient in Immodium. I don't use it because it causes cramping for me which I normally never have- but that's just me. Sorry to hear about your insurance company, it's so frustrating.
