intolerances

Post by Belle »

can people add back their intolerances once they've acheived remission if they were not tested to have antibodies against those foods? how soon can you try to add them back?

Belle,
I tested positive through Enterolab for gluten, casein, soy (low teens) and yeast. I only gave up yeast (bread) in the first few months. I never fully gave up soy - I still had GF soy sauce, soy oil, and soy lecithin in dark chocolate or baked goods. I did give up most salads, peppers, spicy foods, coffee, citrus and fibrous raw veggies in the first year, and only ate them occasionally after that. It took 2 years to acheive remission without any meds, but now I enjoy salads, raw veggies, coffee, dark chocolate, spicy foods and citrus with no tummy troubles. Granted, I'm not having perfect normans every day, but I feel I'm just as normal as anyone without MC -- no discomfort, no bloating, no urgent D, no C. I am still very careful about avoiding all gluten, but less worried about trace amounts of casein.

thanks so much for your response. I only tested with low teen antibodies to gluten and an 11 for corn. everything else was normal. although i did not test for yeast as that is a seperate test. i have to decide if i can afford to do it. I am off dairy and soy anyways as a precaution
