This from the juicers....
I'm assuming you know about the world wide juicing craze that has been ignited by Australian Joe Cross.
This is something he posted on Facebook, and which caught my eye. I wonder why?

I just saw on FB that the link won't open with IE. I use firefox, so I didn't have a problem. It also opens in Chrome. The author said she would fix it.

Or type in her name and see if it takes you there:
Galina Kotlyar
One thing that struck me is that it says she CONTRACTED colitis. As far as I know from my medical studies colitis of any sort is not contagious, therefore can't be contracted. Developed, I believe, is the correct description.
Tex, Polly, please correct me if I am wrong.

Lesley,
There have been a few cases where spouses or other family members have also developed MC, which has prompted a few people to speculate that it might be contagious, but my theory says that autoimmune diseases are caused by a certain combination of environmental factors, and genetics help to determine which disease/s will develop. IOW, people who live together, tend to have many of the same environmental influences, (and in some cases, similar genetics), so it's not surprising that related individuals might occasionally also develop the disease.
Also, I suspect that some people use the term "contracted" as a synonym for "developed".

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Really? That is weird since that is not what it means. Also, I suspect that some people use the term "contracted" as a synonym for "developed".
Genetics and similar environmental factors giving rise to the same autoimmune diseases makes sense, but they develop from this factors. They are not contagious.
Did you manage to read the claim that juice fasting cures colitis?
Yes I did, but frankly, I can't see anything miraculous about juice fasting. Consider the author's own "miraculous" recovery.
At least, that's how I see it.

"with medicinal enemas"? Those are pretty potent treatments. That's a common treatment for the disease, so it's not surprising that it worked. The 21 days of juice fasting eliminated gluten, dairy, and probably soy from the diet, so the combination of diet and conventional medications resolved the symptoms, not "juice fasting". Look at the "case study" that was also included:Twenty-one days of juice fasting together with medicinal enemas, nutritional supplements and herbs healed my supposedly “incurable” Pancolitis. My intestinal bleeding, chronic diarrhea, and joint pain vanished. I felt energetic and excited about being alive. Juice fasting saved my life and healed my soul.
Again, the GF, DF diet brought resolution of symptoms, not the 2-day juice fast. The Case Study: This lovely 8-year-old girl suffered from a serious asthmatic condition. She was regularly using inhalers, and sleeping in a sitting position to prevent asthma attacks. As a last resort, her pediatrician recommended steroids (corticosteroids) to control her asthma.
I suggested a 2-day juice fast using diluted vegetable juices, followed by a special diet (no gluten, dairy, sugar, eggs, or peanuts). Plus, I prescribed special supplements to heal the lung tissue and to strengthen the immunity. After 30 days, she was able to be taken off all medication, and she slept peacefully lying down in her bed. She was rollerblading and skating for hours with her friends. Her parents were so happy to see their daughter enjoying her childhood to the fullest.
At least, that's how I see it.

I'm glad you asked that Lesley. I've wondered that too, especially when I was having more trouble eating than I am now. It seems like that could be a way to get more nutrients. But I'm not a juicer, so I'll be interested in what others have to say.

Everybody always said to get the disease under control was the the most important, and I know that's true. However, I am not getting better, no matter what I do. I am in so much pain when I eat I am thinking maybe drinking fresh juice, made from the stuff I am supposed to eat (MRT) would give me the nutrients I am lacking.
IMO, vegetable juice typically supplies most of the nutrients, without most of the fiber. Of course, mainstream dietitians and doctors would say that substituting juice for vegetables is a poor practice, because of the loss of fiber, but personally, I don't consider that to be the end of the world, since the current recommendations for fiber intake are waaaaaaaaay too high for good digestion and health, anyway.
The USDA equates 3/4 cup of 100% vegetable juice with one serving of vegetables, and recent research appears to support that claim. In fact, one study even showed that drinking fruit and vegetable juices may reduce the chances of developing Alzheimer's disease by 76%.

Mandy, more than a few members here have eaten baby food, to get their digestive system settled down. Some have made their own, using a food processor.

OK, I made a glass of juice (delicious) with apple, pear and spinach. Now we will see what happens. Right now I am in my version of the D phase. I want to be able to not take the softeners and laxatives and still have a BM that is neither C nor D even if it isn't true Norman (it's been over a year since I have had one!) - meaning that there is still mucous, weird color, weird sort of bits hanging out.
And I want to be able to eat without this pain!
So ....results anon!
