Gallstones and MC

Post by kitty16 »

The doctors told me I have gallstones. This was found during a ultra sound for another reason. Can this be adding to MC or even causing it and the D

Thanks

They can cause pain and discomfort, and nausea, and I suppose they cause some diarrhea due to the failure of fat digestion, but they shouldn't cause MC, (though they are commonly associated with MC). Removal of the gallbladder will almost always result in D, at least for several months, due to the uncontrolled dumping of bile into the duodenum.

You're most welcome,

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I had severe diarrhea before I had my gall bladder out. It was whitish, as you get with hepatitis. Post surgery I had no diarrhea.
