Falling apart...

Post by Lesley »

About 10 days ago I dropped a heavy bottle on my left big toe. Hurt like hell. I iced it, but still had some bruising. Seemed to be getting better, but the last 2 days my toe has been aching, and now is red and swollen.
Any ideas?

Broken? Can you bend it normally? Time for an x-ray? (although I'm not sure they can mend a broken toe)

Needless to say, you should be off your feet and continuing to ice it.

Did the bottle break the skin? No chance of infection?

I can bend it, NP, and I could from the start. It was getting better. I didn't even notice it anymore until yesterday. It didn't break the skin, I don't think it's infected. I can't see a puncture anywhere, or a source of infection.
I suddenly noticed an ache yesterday, which got worse today. And now it looks, as I said, red and swollen.

Lesley, could it be irritated just from over-use? You iced it and stayed off it and it was better so you walked around like usual .... maybe it was too soon?
At some point your body has to absorb that blood from the bruise, but I don't know that that would make it swell. Hmmm.

Like Zizzle said : Keep it iced and stay off again. As much as you can anyway.

Sorry.
