I would argue that you weren't "asymptomatic," since you developed autoimmune manifestations of gluten intolerance before you recognized it. You just had a silent GI response, which so many celiacs do.

That makes sense. I'll have to study the definition of "asymptomatic" and come up with something else to describe how my body reacted. Obviously, it was reacting, I just didn't recognize it until doing the challenge(s) and getting smacked with unmistakable reactions.

Speaking of which, I gave into temptation a few days ago and had a GF chocolate chip cookie my daughter had made. It had grains, of course, and about five regular chocolate chips. I waited in some trepidation for the soy reaction, which came within a few hours. It was basically just a stomachache and a general feeling of malaise. I don't care to repeat the experience, but I can understand people who are in denial saying, "Oh, that wasn't so bad." Of course, I've never been in denial. :ROFL:
