heart burn/pain?

Post by jmayk8 »

I took a zantac this morning and about an hour later took an allegra. My un-dx mast cell issue is really acting up, giving me a lot of rashes lately so I decided to start on these meds. This afternoon I started having some pain in my heart, I don't know if it's just heart burn? But I NEVER have heart burn and esp with the zantac i shouldnt. I mean it's not horrible chest pain where I cant breathe but, it's def bothersome.

Zantac is known to increase the odds of developing pneumonia, but I the impression that you just started taking it, so it couldn't have caused pneumonia that quickly. Some people report chest pain if they take those two meds together, but I believe that's pretty rare.

You might need to call your doctor, (PCP), if it continues, or gets worse.

Jenny,
You should definitely call your doc, and, if it doesn't resolve, go to the ER. Also, do you have baby aspirin around? You should keep some JIC. MCers, especially those with GERD, often don't realize how important this is. An aspirin or 2 won't make your MC worse, but it could save your life.

However, I had chest pain 2x, and one of those, I followed my own advice. I was schlepped of to hospital in an ambulance, horns blaring. I was very embarrassed.
They did all the tests, but my heart was, and, I hope, is, fine.
Still, every time I get chest pain I worry.

It's all from the MC. I am sure of it now.

Both my late husband and I have had some pretty bad chest pain from GERD. A couple of time mine even raidiated up into my jaw. At the time I was on Prilosec and had been for a long time.
