Dr. Briffa mentioned this 20-minute video in one of his e-mails, and I just finished watching it. It is very good. Naughton says this, garnered from one of the books he recommends:
"When large groups of dedicated amateurs share their ideas, their information, and their experiences with each other, they often come up with more accurate answers and more effective solutions than the supposed experts."
His basic premise is that when people find out that their doctors are giving them the wrong advice, they turn to social media, blogs, forums, etc. and discover what really works. Then, of course, their doctors get upset with them.
